Our ideal candidate will combine strong content and communication skills with the ability to analyse data, spot opportunities, and deliver tangible results.This role will suit someone who is part strategist, part facilitator, and part community champion — someone who loves helping people connect, share knowledge, and grow together.Our ideal candidate will have a Degree or equivalent experience in communications, marketing, digital media, project management or related field and will be:Creative and confident in writing and content creation, with a clear, engaging style.Digitally fluent, experienced in using online platforms and forums to foster participation.Organised and proactive, able to juggle multiple projects and deliver on deadlines.Insight-driven, comfortable interpreting data and using it to shape future activity.Collaborative and member-focused, working effectively with colleagues, volunteers, and members.Professional and adaptable, representing IChemE confidently and maintaining a trusted, inclusive community space.Familiar with volunteer or mentoring programmes.Requirements:As Online Community Lead, you’ll be responsible for:Engaging members – designing campaigns, supporting onboarding, encouraging peer-to-peer interaction, and ensuring excellent service.Integrating volunteers & mentors – embedding resources, improving visibility, and tracking impact to grow participation.Curating and delivering content – supporting staff and members to share valuable insights, aligning with strategic priorities, and recognising contributions.Maintaining platform integrity – moderating discussions, upholding community standards, and ensuring a safe and inclusive space.Activating events & learning opportunities – coordinating virtual events and training, and using post-event feedback to drive improvements.Using data & insights – monitoring engagement metrics, sharing actionable insights, and demonstrating community value.Collaborating across IChemE – ensuring the online community supports wider membership experience initiatives and amplifies member voicesOther information:Due to IChemE’s international nature, this position requires a willingness to work flexibly and to engage in business discussions outside of normal working hours.The position is based in Rugby, UK with flexible working arrangements - currently the requirement is at least three days in the Rugby office and the remainder working from home – however, this is flexible according to business need.Only candidates eligible to work in the UK will be considered.This is a permanent, full-time role based on 37.5 hours per week working Monday through to Friday.Starting salary will be in the region of £35,000 per annum (depending on experience) plus benefits which includes an excellent pension scheme.To apply, please provide a CV and a cover letter highlighting your experience against the areas listed above and why you think you are the ideal candidate for the role.
