Operations Financial Analyst (Substations)

Job Description

Our Substation group is currently looking to add an Operations Financial Analyst to our growing team, based in Calgary, AB.Reporting to the Vice President of Substations and Renewables (with a dotted-line relationship to the Director of Project Controls & Analytics) we are seeking a strong communicator with experience working with large data sets and the ability to translate data into meaningful insights. This role serves as a bridge between financial data and divisional leaders, ensuring that information is clearly understood and effectively leveraged to support project tracking, reporting, forecasting, and rate development within operations.Duties And ResponsibilitiesPrepare monthly reports, income statements, and analyze divisional transactionsBuild and maintain weekly Project Controls ReportingWork with operations to forecast project costsIntegrate JDE data and coordinate updates with project managersAnalyze KPIs and provide insights to project teamsConsolidate project data into weekly summaries for leadershipSupport monthly financial and manpower forecasting across multiple divisionsProvide crew productivity analysis for various options during bid and construction process planningAssist in developing wage structures and custom labor and equipment ratesRequirementsPost-Secondary Education in Accounting, Engineering, Finance, or Business4 years of financial analysis, project controls, or related experienceProven understanding of financial reporting, forecasting, and project accounting principlesAdvanced MS Excel skillsPreferred Skills / QualificationsExperience with JDE, Ecosys, Power BI or IncortaCurrently enrolled in the CPA program, working towards designationPrevious Construction Industry experience Job Posting End Date: November 23rd, 2025BenefitsWe offer a comprehensive and competitive total rewards package that incorporates a complete range of employee benefits, including an RRSP matching program, to ensure you have the tools necessary to manage, maintain, and improve your health and wellbeing.About Our BusinessValard Construction is Canada's premier utility contractor providing comprehensive EPC+ (engineering, procurement, construction) and maintenance services to utilities, independent power producers, mining, oil and gas industries and rural electric associations.
