Join Freedom Generating Station (FGS) in Luzerne County, PA—a cutting-edge, $1 billion facility generating 1,050 MW of power with advanced GE 7HA.02 technology.We’re seeking an Operations & Maintenance Technician to be part of our dynamic Rotating Shift Team. In this role, you’ll operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a wide range of equipment, including combustion and steam turbines, generators, HRSGs, air-cooled condensers, compressors, pumps, valves, fire suppression systems, and more. You’ll play a key part in keeping our facility running safely and efficiently, while strictly following all safety and environmental regulations to protect our team and community.Approved Salary Range for this role is $85k - $95k per year based on skillset and education.Job ResponsibilitiesWork a rotating shift schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays) and respond to overtime or after-hours call outs as needed.Always follow safety, environmental, NERC compliance, and facility rules to protect people and equipment.Conduct regular inspections and surveillance rounds of all plant systems.Operate and maintain combined cycle power generation equipment with minimal supervision, troubleshooting issues as they arise.Monitor and adjust power production and auxiliary equipment for safe, efficient operation, record data from meters, gauges, and automated devices.Perform water chemistry analysis and maintain proper control ranges for HRSG, auxiliary boiler, and water treatment systems.Operate and monitor the demineralized water system to ensure quality standards are met.Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, including tightening fittings, replacing parts, cleaning, lubricating, and using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).Identify and resolve issues with the Continuous Emissions Monitoring System (CEMS), assist with calibrations, and prevent environmental excursions.Maintain facility cleanliness and organization, including general housekeeping and control room upkeep.Support capital projects and major programs, coordinating purchasing and repairs as needed.Communicate clearly and accurately with the team, keeping management informed of plant conditions and job progress.Order chemicals and help manage plant inventory.Perform Lock Out-Tag Out procedures and operate circuit breakers for system operation and electrical isolation.Participate in outage planning and scheduling.Help develop operations and maintenance procedures and train facility personnel.Assist with root cause analysis of failures.Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts.Comply with all regulatory procedures and safety programs, following environmental permits.Maintain journals, logbooks, shift turnovers, and reports.Foster a culture of safety, health, sustainability, and responsibility within the team.Perform other duties as assigned.Required Skills / KnowledgeDemonstrates knowledge of all facets of power plant operations.Demonstrates the ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations.Capable of writing operating procedures, work requests, written records.Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skillsProficient in Microsoft Office including Excel and WordDemonstrates the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, logic drawings, technical manuals and P&ID's.Will write routine reports, solve practical problems, and clearly communicate tasks and needs, and training of other personnel.Mechanical, instrumentation and electrical equipment knowledge is required.Adept at troubleshooting and diagnosing problems with mechanical equipment with the ability to apply a resolution in a timely fashion.Proficient at repairing, replacing, dismantling and inspecting defective plant equipment and parts such as pumps, valves, fans, gearboxes, demineralizers, compressors, and turbine components.Capable of operating welding and cutting equipment and completes metal fabrication projects.Proficient at Water Chemistry.Capable of setting up and operating a drill press, pipe threading machine, grinder and other various tools to make and repair parts and equipment.ExperienceTwo (02) to Four (04) years related power plant or industry experience and/or training; or a combination of experience and/or education preferred.Knowledge of advanced technology combustion turbines, steam turbines, single shaft arrangements and commissioning experience is preferred but not required.Power Plant Control Room Operator experience is a plus.Experience with General Electric (GE) MARK VIe DCS (Control System) is a plus.Education RequirementsHigh School diploma or equivalent required.Associates Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college to technical school preferred.Education in power generation, mechanical maintenance, electrical maintenance, or instrument and controls is a plus.
