⭐ Operations Manager – Full-Time, PermanentSME, DIY/Construction Sector)OverviewOur client, a rapidly growing SME, is seeking a high-performing Operations Manager to lead end-to-end operations across warehouse, transport and retail functions. This senior role owns the margin target and is responsible for driving operational excellence, optimising the supply chain, developing teams, and ensuring a best-in-class customer experience.We’re looking for a dynamic, commercially minded leader who is comfortable challenging assumptions, improving systems, and delivering measurable results.⭐ Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership & StrategyOwn all operational processes and performance outcomes.Define, monitor and improve KPIs across margin, capacity planning, delivery performance, turnaround, quality, and labour costs.Manage operational budgets and cost controls.Uphold safety standards and ensure a clean, efficient work environment.Provide strategic input at senior management level and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders.Supply Chain & Inventory ManagementLead procurement, inventory and transport operations end-to-end.Select and negotiate with suppliers, carriers, and service providers to secure best value.Forecast demand and manage stock levels accordingly.Analyse and plan for the impact of promotions and seasonal activity on inventory needs.Market Insight & Product DevelopmentOptimise the marketing mix to maximise margin.Track market trends and competitor activity; anticipate shifts in demand.Identify new product or sourcing opportunities, including through trade shows and industry events.Team Leadership & People DevelopmentManage, mentor and develop four direct reports and broader operational teams.Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and ongoing performance management.Coordinate daily workloads, resolve team issues, and develop internal capability.Build a strong, accountable, positive team culture.⭐ Skills, Knowledge & ExperienceCore CompetenciesLeadership: Proven ability to lead teams, drive accountability and motivate performance.Negotiation: Strong track record securing cost-effective supplier and service agreements.Proactivity: Energetic, solutions-focused and able to drive improvements independently.Analytical Ability: Confident interpreting KPIs, budgets, stock levels and forecasts.Organisation: Excellent planning and multitasking skills; able to maintain structure in a fast-paced environment.Communication: Clear, confident communicator across all levels.Problem Solving: Practical, resourceful and able to handle complex operational challenges.Qualifications & Experience5+ years’ experience in a similar operations role.Degree in Business, Operations, Supply Chain or related field (advantage).Experience or strong interest in the DIY/Construction sector (advantage).Full clean driving licence (essential).Forklift and/or truck licence (advantage).IT SkillsMS OfficeExcel (beginner to intermediate)ERP experience desirable⭐ BenefitsCompany carCompany pensionAdditional leaveStore discountOn-site parkingBike-to-Work scheme
