We know that our products make a real difference to our clients and their families.The Role | The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of new and existing property and casualty claims and would ideally be able to demonstrate a track record of working within an insurance claims environment although insurance/reinsurance industry experience in all areas will be recognized. The ideal candidate will be part of an innovative, driven team with a diverse set of responsibilities which include but is not limited to reviewing reinsurance claims and contracts, capturing detailed and accurate claims data, preparing claims payment forms and liaising with brokers and underwriters. Contributing to regular and ad hoc management information will also be part of the job role. Other duties include:Review all motor claims exceeding $15,000, researching and acquiring further detail as appropriate;Maintain an effective system of follow-up to ensure that all claims are processed in a timely manner and that appropriate and regular communication is maintained at all times with the relevant parties;Assist with training and supervision of the claims staff;Provide exceptional customer service while investigating, evaluating and resolving motor claims, property claims and bodily injury claims;Manage litigated claims within your authority as directed by the Claims Manager and/or Group Claims Manager;Timely and accurately reporting of claims, reserves, and send recovery requests to ReinsurersCommunicates and consults with the investigating Vehicle Claims Engineer to review his/her reports and get additional information as required;Reviews estimates and approves settlement within authorized limits;Negotiates with claimants when required;Maintains an effective follow up system to ensure that no claim is left unresolved, and the 30-day review requirement is adhered to by the claims officers;Report any non-routine matters to the attention for the Claims Manager;Maintain files, records, and account system that are used in the Claims Department including the computer system;Interviews claimants and third parties to determine the facts of the claims, levels of liability, and inspects on site damaged vehicles and properties as part of the process;Actions personal injury claims, including liaising with third party attorneys, that does not exceed assigned authority limit of $35,000.00, and does not include cyclist accidents and pedestrian accidents, all of which must be immediately referred to the Claims Manager;Prepares and/or reviews for appropriateness (as requested) all correspondence in connection with claims e.g. about additional requirements, restrictions on policies etc. prior to distribution;Reviews the overall subrogation position on a quarterly basis to ensure request letters for payments are sent and takes appropriate action.Ensures claims payment details are submitted to the Accounts Dept. in a timely manner, and adheres to all payment release protocols;Ensures the maintenance and currency of the salvage and subrogation registries,Assists with inspecting damaged vehicles or properties, taking photographs when required;The Person | Bachelors degree in relevant discipline is preferred, with a minimum of 5 years experience handling and negotiating settlement of Property & Casualty Claims. You will also possess a diploma in insurance or equivalent qualification as a preferred competency. You should have strong administration and organizational skills, superior communication, including verbal, written, negotiation and presentation skills and high competency in the use and application of standard Microsoft and email software applications.The Benefits | We value our employees and offer a supportive and inclusive work environment.
