Pātaka Art + Museum is the cultural heart of Porirua City. The art gallery and museum showcases the best in Māori, Pacific, and contemporary New Zealand arts, and also features local and international artists. The gallery is located in the recreational hub of the city, alongside the City Centre Library, Te Rauparaha Arena, with Te Awarua-o-Porirua Harbour nearby.About the roleYou’ll collaborate with curators, educators, artists, and our friendly front-of-house team to make sure every exhibition opening, community workshop and cultural celebration at Pātaka runs smoothly — from planning through to pack-down.You’ll also be the key contact for venue hirers, ensuring every event hosted at Pātaka — from performances to private functions — is well-organised, safe, and welcoming.What you’ll be doingworking alongside the Curatorial and FOH teams to deliver inspiring public programmes and exhibition openingscoordinating bookings and events for internal and external venue hirersbuilding relationships with local artists, community groups and cultural organisationshelping promote Pātaka’s programmes through social media and online channelssupporting the logistics of events — from technical setup to health and safetykeeping our spaces looking great and ensuring every visitor has a positive experienceAll about youYou’ll be someone who loves bringing people together, thrives on variety, and can juggle multiple projects with a smile.You’ll need to show us that you have:experience in delivering public programming and/or event managementskills in event coordination and public programmes, ideally in an art gallery and museum contextaccurate and efficient administration skillsan eye for detail, strong organisational skills,experience working with budgetsenthusiasm, initiative, and great communication skills. and a genuine passion for art, culture and community engagementWhat you need to do nowCome and join our passionate and supportive team and be part of our welcoming and engaging environment.
