The VP Commercial, Energy will apply his or her expertise to the full spectrum of Energy Business commercial activities, as well as business development initiatives. This role reports to the President, Energy Business and based out of Singapore. Key Accountabilities: Provide strategic commercial analysis and recommendations to Senior Management that may include the development of economic models and/or coordinating such work with external consultants and specialists.
Spearhead business development activities through active monitoring of the LNG and/or Renewable market and networking with key stakeholders and industry participants to identify and pursue business opportunities that are aligned with corporate objectives. Stay abreast of the global LNG and/or Renewable market with emphasis on the near-term market developments - proactively formulate, advocate, and execute sensible physical and financial trading strategies based on sound judgement and justified recommendations, optimize across multiple commodities exchanges and time zones. Structuring and negotiation of commercial agreements with key counterparties. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with counterparties, suppliers, customers, and industry stakeholders.
Work closely with commercial teams from Singapore, China and Canada offices to identify commercial opportunities and enhance pricing effectiveness. Leads negotiations for MoUs and other LNG and/or Renewable related agreements or regulatory discussions in different markets. Responsible for ensuring that all business activities are conducted according to the prescribed policies, standards and legal framework. Qualifications and Skills: University degree in business or related field.
A minimum of twenty years of commercial experience in the industrial goods sectors, preferably LNG and/or Renewable industry, in East Asia (primarily China) and North America, of which at least 5 years in a leadership role. Commercially savvy and possess excellent negotiation skills. Excellent analytical and reporting skills; familiar with financial modellingExperience in M&A and project finance would be an asset. Relationship builder with strong influencing skills with proven ability to develop and manage effective and sustainable relationships. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Ability to absorb technical information and present it in non-complex, easily understood written and graphic formats. Strong organizational skills and keen sense of priorities. Capacity to work under pressure and meet very tight deadlines in an environment with conflicting priorities, across multiple time-zones. Frequent international travel may be required. Excellent cross-cultural adaptability and sensitivity; Chinese speaking will a plus
