The Ethics Department at the Columbus Bar Association seeks to hire a paralegal to assist with attorney disciplinary investigations and the character & fitness interview process for candidates seeking admission to the Ohio bar. About Us: This role combines both administrative tasks and litigation and investigation support tasks. The role requires frequent interaction with CBA members who serve on the Ethics and Admissions Committees, members of the public who file complaints about attorneys, candidates seeking admission to the Ohio bar, opposing counsel, staff at the Supreme Court of Ohio and the Board of Professional Conduct. You will attend hearings with bar counsel and be involved in nearly all aspects of the department's responsibilities. Opportunities to assist with drafting and responding to discovery, document review, and legal drafting and research are also available. We perform highly confidential and serious work and play a key role in maintaining the integrity of the legal profession. But, we also have a sense of humor and enjoy the work we do.About You: You should be skilled in basic office administrative functions: use of Outlook, Zoom, Word, PDF document management, e-filing, basic Excel functions, SharePoint, and be a highly organized self-starter. You should be serious about the nature of the confidential work we perform, but also have a good sense of humor about the world. A paralegal certification is preferred, but work experience in a law firm may substitute for certification. Attention to detail is required.
