Job SummaryAs a member of the Legal Department, the Paralegal will support the General Counsel in the following matters related to the global legal and compliance department: estates & planned giving; coordination of international Cybersight AI regulatory research; drafting and maintaining of documentation; organizing files. In addition, the Paralegal will: maintain the Orbis trademark database; support organizational compliance initiatives, including managing the Compliance Tracker; support organizational policy administration; implement vendor due diligence checks.The Paralegal develops and maintains in-depth understanding of how Orbis operates internally and externally and is well versed in how legal issues affect Orbis and its work across the globe. LOCATION The position can be globally remote, provided hands-on experience with U.S. trust & estates law. REPORTING & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS The Paralegal reports to the General Counsel & Chief Compliance Officer, collaborates closely with Orbis employees at headquarters in New York, and on the U.S. Development and global Clinical Services teams, and liaises consistently with colleagues in Orbis offices around the world.Essential Job Functions / Key Areas Of ResponsibilityEstates and planned giving coordination, including documentation administration and analysis and correspondence with estate counsel and executorsReview and synthesize regulatory research shared by outside counsel and provide recommendations to General CounselMaintain intellectual property & trademark docketU.S. state charitable registration administration, including liaising with development department to gather information and managing third party registration serviceContracts database administrationCompliance Tracker tool administrationPerform third party due diligence checksPolicy administrationAdministrative support to the General CounselQualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s degree.Minimum 5 years experience providing legal supportParalegal certificate from an ABA accredited program preferred, or a combination of education and/or experienceExperience managing contracts or information databases preferredSkills & AbilitiesExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailStrong writing skillsHigh degree of professional ethics and excellent judgmentAbility to communicate effectively with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, both domestically and internationally, including outside attorneys, senior managers, board members, and staffProficiency with MS Office, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint required and experience with other software preferredTo learn more about Orbis, go to http://www.orbis.orgOrbis is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
