No Supervisory FunctionsBASIC FUNCTIONThis position is responsible for grounds maintenance duties; includingmaintaining City ball fields,maintaining vegetation and landscaped areas, and performing routinemaintenance of assignedtools and equipment.DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICSThe Moscow School District Community Playfields (MSDCP) MaintenanceWorker is a Senior -level position and performs the full range of maintenance duties in theassigned activity withinathletics and parks. It operates the full range of equipment utilized inthe trade. Incumbents maybe assigned to one or more areas of City operations.Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals withdisabilities to performThese Essential Functions.Prepare and maintain ball fields, athletic fields, and surroundinglandscape areas;prepare fields for athletic competition; drag, repair, prepare, andmaintain athleticfields, fill infield holes; screen the field; sweep dugouts and cleanbleacher areas.Mark with appropriate marking materials or equipment to delineate thearea of playand restricting lines as prescribed and established by league and sportrules; grade andwater infields.Maintain turf by aerating, slicing, and applying fertilizer; maintainflower beds andvegetation in business areas, park sites, and other City sites; injectelm trees accordingto established procedures.PARKS MAINTENANCE WORKER - MSCDPRevised: 9/6/2024Lay out grass areas for field events; maintain and repair grass, sod,and scraped areas;mow and edge baseball infield and other areas as needed.Identify weeds or pests and determine appropriate chemicals foreradication; applychemicals assuring proper health and safety precautions Maintaindetailed and accuraterecords of all chemical and pesticide applications according to, and incompliance withIdaho State and Federal regulations.Perform a variety of general groundskeeping duties including raking,weeding, pruningtrees, fertilizing, transplanting trees and shrubs, and pruning hedgesand shrubs.Operate a variety of grounds maintenance equipment and tools includingtractors, overseeder, rototillers, aerators, sod cutters, fork lifts, pruners,clippers, line markingmachines, snow plows, small hand and power tools, and trucks of varioussizes.Inspect and repair sprinklers; install irrigation lines and drainagesystems for fields.Train and provide work direction to assigned summer and part-timepersonnel.Perform minor and preventive maintenance and repair work on equipmentandfacilities; assist with other maintenance work as assigned includingpainting and mixing,pouring and finishing concrete; plowing and shoveling snow; paintbenches and tables.Prepare monthly reports regarding safety and equipment; maintain recordsofequipment, and park inspections.Operate heavier ground equipment and irrigation systems as required.Apply pesticides as needed.Required Education And ExperienceGraduation from high school or GEDCourse work and/or training in park, turf, or landscape maintenance andoperations orrelated field.Two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in a similarposition.Required Licenses And CertificationsValid Class A drivers license with air brake and manual endorsementswithin one (1)year.Moscow tree worker certification within six (6) months.State Pesticide Applicators License with ornamental herbicide andinsecticideendorsement within six (6) months.Approved turfgrass certificate or irrigation certificate within one (1)year.Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within six (6)months.PARKS MAINTENANCE WORKER - MSCDPRevised: 9/6/2024COMPETENCIESKnowledge Of:Methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in cultivating andmaintaininglandscaped and athletic field areas.Athletic field boundaries and markings.Cul
