About the RoleAs we enter our next stage of growth, Ferrier Industrial is evolving how we manage finance and accounting. We work closely with an external accounting partner and virtual CFO, and this role is the core in-house link between that outsourced team and our day-to-day operations.You’ll keep our financial records accurate, produce reports that guide management decisions, and coordinate activity across our sites in New Zealand, Australia, Vietnam, and China. The role blends hands-on accounting with business insight and process improvement—ideal for someone who enjoys connecting the numbers to the real world of manufacturing and logistics.We’re a nimble, founder-led small business, not a rigid corporate. You’ll work day-to-day with the founder, with the flexibility and autonomy to shape how the finance function runs and to do the job in a way that works best for you—while lifting the whole team.We’re also investing in new business-management and accounting software, and you’ll play a key role in integrating and optimising these systems to modernise how we operate. Working alongside our existing accountant (Cindy), you’ll bring experience and mentorship to strengthen the team and embed best-practice processes as we scale.________________________________________________________________________________________Key ResponsibilitiesOversee day-to-day accounting across our New Zealand, Australian, Vietnamese, and Chinese operations, including supporting our existing junior accounts staff member who handles reconciliations, payables/receivables, payroll, GST/BAS, and month-end processes.Prepare accurate management reports, forecasts, and cash-flow insights for decision-making.Collaborate with the external accounting firm and virtual CFO to align reporting, compliance, and budgets across multiple entities.Help integrate and optimise new business-management and accounting systems to modernise operations.Partner with operations, sales, and logistics to ensure financials reflect real-world performance.Strengthen internal controls, documentation, and process efficiency.Mentor the junior accountant (Cindy) and support the founder with analysis and strategic input.________________________________________________________________________________________About YouYou’re an experienced accountant who enjoys variety and seeing how your work directly impacts a business. You’re equally comfortable reconciling accounts as you are explaining numbers to non-financial people. You bring both technical skill and commercial curiosity — and you like improving the way things are done.You’ll bring:5 + years’ accounting experience, ideally within manufacturing, logistics, or other product-based industries.Strong working knowledge of Xero and confidence with Excel / Google Sheets.Experience managing or consolidating accounts across multiple entities or countries.Sound understanding of GST/BAS, payroll, and general compliance.Familiarity with ERP/BMS platformsClear communication skills and the ability to translate financial results into practical insights for the team.A collaborative approach with the confidence to mentor others and work closely with the founder day-to-day.Integrity, initiative, and an appreciation for the flexibility that comes with being part of a growing, hands-on business.The ability to speak, read, or write Mandarin would be an advantage, though not essential — we make good use of AI and translation tools to bridge any language gaps.Experience with inventory systems, manufacturing workflows, or data-visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI) would be an advantage but not essential.
