Job DescriptionAbout this job: The Underwriter will be actively involved in underwriting a portfolio of North American accounts within the Global Catastrophe portfolio. Key Responsibilities:
Underwriting a world-class portfolio of reinsurance catastrophe accounts;Managing catastrophe loss evaluation and reporting for the accounts underwritten;Ensuring that guidelines, plans and policies are adhered to;Strengthening and building client and broker relationships;Supporting and contributing to strategy and action planning;Acquiring, analysing and reporting on market, business and technical developments;Making underwriting decisions within the authorized limit;Supporting the underwriting and portfolio steering of the North American cat reinsurance portfolio as required. QualificationsTechnical Skills / Competencies:
Knowledge of reinsurance and insurance structures;Established relationships with brokers in the reinsurance market; Strong client management capabilitiesIntimate knowledge of reinsurance pricing techniques and catastrophe models. Behavioral Competencies: Excellent information technology skills, ideally to include experience with Catastrophe modelling toolsAn impeccable work ethic, and the ability and commitment to meet deadlines;Excellent written and verbal communication, negotiation and organizational skills. Work Experience: Preferably 7+ years, but a minimum of 5 years' experience in the reinsurance industry, including progressive experience of catastrophe market dynamics. Education: Preferably a University Degree in a numerate discipline. Professional Qualifications or Designations:
Relevant professional designations would be an asset.
