Job DescriptionThe client is a dynamic trailer Sales, Leasing, and Rental company in significant growth mode. The company is headquartered in Irvine, California and currently has operations in Fontana, California; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Grants Pass, Oregon; Houston, Texas; Dallas, Texas; Phoenix, AZ; and Salt Lake City, Utah. GWLS is seeking expansion into other sites in its current footprint, as well as into other cities across the country.Client currently seeks a well-qualified Payroll Manager and HR/Accounting Support to support the company by oversee and supervise the organizations payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. They will also be supporting HR and Accounting needs for various projects, coverage, and facilitate problem-solving actions as needed.Critical to the success of this role will be the ability to engage others to effectively, anticipate changes and execute detailed transactions efficiently. The ideal person for this job will be someone who has payroll experience and can work with limited supervision.This person must have experience with the following: timecards, payroll,check/wires, commission calculations, and be familiar with HR policies andpractices. The person performing this role must be comfortable coordinating withvendors, driving escalations, analysing issues across multiple systems, and rolling up his/her sleeves to attack the day-to-day.This is a highly supportive role that is accountable for:Essential Functions Oversee the production of accurate and timely employee paychecksincluding commission-based calculations.Calculate net salaries considering deductions and withholdingsand ensure payroll and tax documents are accurate.Update general ledger and payroll files and prepare the journalentries.Prepare accounting files, records, and schedules.Monitor paid and unpaid leaves.Process overtime earnings or holiday deductions. Resolve payroll problems (e.g. overlooked bank holidays, late payments,etc.) and answer employee questions concerning payroll.Participate in payroll audits.Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage,and hour laws and best practices. Implements, maintains, and validates the payroll processing systems toensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions includingSalaries, Benefits, Garnishments, Taxes, And Other Deductions.Regularly reviews and runs quality checks on payroll inputs including timecard entries. Coordinates with HR for trainingneeds, reporting, or other means to have accurate and timelyinputs for payroll.Maintains the payroll schedule for the company- for both weeklyand bi-weekly timing. Proactively communicates tight scheduleswith input teams so payroll is processed smoothly.Responsible for the routine internal audit of payroll data to assurethe system reflects accurate titles, pay, personal data, and allmeans to not only run payroll, but maintain accurate records at alltimes.Effectively coordinates with vendors, timekeeping and payrollsystems, and internal resources to ensure accurate and timelyprocessing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations,and changes to pay rates.Must be technically comfortable with timekeeping, HR, andpayroll systems.Performs other duties as assigned.Minimum RequirementsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function and willing to take on new roles as needed. Therequirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. 5+ years’ experience with payroll processing. Must have 2+ years accounting experience. Willing and able to work across multiple US time zones. Team player with positive, can-do attitude, excellent work ethic, anddemonstrated ability to execute. Highly analytical, comfortable pulling metrics from payroll system intoExcel for budgeting.
