pawaTech is seeking a highly skilled PBX Operations Engineer to lead the deployment, maintenance, and optimisation of enterprise-grade telephony systems across multiple regions. This role demands deep expertise in SIP, VoIP, and PBX architecture, with a focus on operational reliability, cross-border integration, and workflow automation. Our expertise, commitment to quality, and client-focused approach make us a trusted partner in Africa and beyond.What you’ll be doing:Design, configure, and maintain PBX systems (Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, Cisco, Avaya, etc.) across multi-site environmentsManage SIP trunking, dialplan logic, call routing, and failover strategiesMonitor system performance, conduct packet analysis, and troubleshoot VoIP issues using CLI tools and web UIsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate voice services with CRM, ERP, and ticketing platformsLead vendor coordination for hardware/software upgrades, licensing, and SLA complianceDocument technical workflows, change logs, and operational playbooks for internal teamsImplement security protocols for voice traffic, including encryption, firewall rules, and access controlsOptimise call quality, latency, and uptime through proactive diagnostics and reportingExperience with Firewall configurations (FortiGate, Cisco, Mikrotik, etc.)Provide level 1 and level 2 PBX support to customer support agents.Experience with setting up a call centre’s PBX system from scratch.What makes you a great candidate:Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field5+ years of hands-on experience in PBX/VoIP operations and SIP protocol managementProficiency in Linux, networking (TCP/IP, DNS, NAT), and firewall configuration (e.g., FortiGate)Experience with SD-WAN, multi-ISP failover, and DNS troubleshootingStrong documentation and communication skills for technical and non-technical audiencesCertifications such as CCNA Voice, Avaya Certified Expert, or equivalent are a plusExperience with multi-country telecom integration and regulatory complianceFamiliarity with cloud-based PBX platforms (e.g., Twilio, RingCentral, 3CX)Automation using scripting (Bash, Python) or orchestration toolsStrategic mindset for scaling infrastructure and optimising cost-performanceAn advanced experience with FREESWITCH configuration management.Why choose pawaTech?We make an impact and contribute to shaping the iGaming culture.We offer growth inside dedicated teams of seniors and career prospects.We embrace a modern technological stack and innovative approach.We value balance - a flexible environment and team events are waiting for you.We play it fair with compensation that recognises and backs your achievements and team budgets.At pawaTech, we are dedicated to building a welcoming and diverse workplace and invite applicants from all backgrounds, regardless of race, gender, age, or other protected characteristics.
