Job Description

Main tasks and responsibilities Identifying, developing and managing geographical information: acquisition, collection, creation, editing, analysis and synthesis of data within GIS and GEE (Google Earth Engine; https://earthengine.google.com/) applications. Conduct detailed studies and geological-pedological analyses (classification, texture, CO2 accumulation potential), climate, rainfall, land cover, erosion, etc., using the latest available technologies. Support digital transformation by integrating cutting-edge technologies (e.g. GEE) for collecting data on soils and crops in combination with forest species. Making harvest estimates, weather forecasts, and cross-referencing different types of data; Support the PM in following the project's progress step by step in spatial terms, providing scientific support for the choices made, and eventually engaging in peer-to-peer discussions with donor’s geologists. Contribute to the dissemination of know-how in the field of expertise by participating in the development and promotion of solutions and technologies aimed at digital optimisation that simplify the monitoring and traceability of production. Actively support the development of projects and the implementation of innovative ideas within the AVSI global team. Support and assist the Project Manager in technical and practical aspects of implementation.Essential Requirements Master's degree in Geology, Agricultural Sciences, Geography and Territorial Sciences. Applications with different and lower qualifications may also be considered, provided that the applicant has significant professional experience.
