Community Partners is a non-profit organization that provides critical supports and services for individuals and families living with developmental disabilities and/or behavioral health challenges.The Peer Specialist, ADT Team will serve as a member of the ADT, providing an array of supportive services to adults with severe mental illness. The Peer Specialist uses their lived experience of recovery from mental illness, plus skills learned in formal training, to deliver services in behavioral health settings to promote mind-body recovery and resiliency. This position will include some early evening hours and weekends as needed to support clients in crisis.Specific ResponsibilitiesEnters into supportive, non-authoritative relationships with peers with a goal of encouraging recoveryWorks with adult peers, age 18 and up, who have severe and/or persistent mental health challengesAssists peers in the development of a Wellness Action Plan (WRAP) so that they can create their own individualized wellness goals and recovery plan and contribute meaningfully to the treatment planning processAssists peers in accessing community resources, advocates on behalf of peers and educates mental health professionals regarding the perspective of persons with lived experienceFacilitates open dialogue with peers to encourage direct, honest, and respectful communicationCompletes all documentation in a timely manner with the Electronic Health RecordParticipates in Co-Reflection Trainings with peer agenciesAttends peer support training (Wellness Recovery Action Plans, Intentional Peer Support, and Whole Health Action Management) that is authorized by the NH Bureau of Behavioral HealthAttends meetings, trainings and events as assignedPerforms tasks, projects and other duties as assignedQualificationsHigh School diploma or GEDLived experience of mental illness & recovery and/or has worked in a Peer Support CenterIntentional Peer Support Training and WRAP Training is preferred but not requiredCapable of working independently as well as a member of a teamMaintain Intentional Peer Support certification as applicableAbility to communicate effectively both orally and in writingAbility to utilize technology provided to perform requirements of the jobValid driver’s license, proof of adequate automobile liability insurance and reliable transportation requiredPhysical RequirementsPhysically and mentally capable of performing multiple tasks under stressful situationsAble to respond appropriately in crisis situations with clientsMust be capable of recording and consuming data electronicallyAble to stand, stretch, bend, walk, lift and transport a minimum of 10 poundsPhysically able to driveAble to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of timeAll candidates must pass a background check which includes, but is not limited to, criminal and driving records to be considered for the job.Candidates must be vaccinated against or be willing to get vaccinated against COVID-19 by the date of hire to be considered for employment, subject to eligibility for exemption as provided by the US Equal Opportunity Commission.Community Partners, Strafford County’s premier behavioral health & developmental services provider, links people to the long-term supports and services they need to a live a full life in this community.
