Dorset Travel coordinate the transport provision for children and young people with additional needs within Dorset as well as out of county. The team also supply and support transport need for Mainstream, Child Care as well as Adults.The vacancy is for a Peripatetic Passenger Assistant living in the Poole Area contracted at approximately 20 hours per week - Term Time Only commencing at £13.05 per hourThe role of a Passenger Assistant is to support children and young people providing additional assistance in maintaining a safe environment on the journey from/to home/school. This vacancy is for a Peripatetic Passenger Assistant from to cover Regular Passenger Assistant absence. There is a requirement to travel if required therefore use of a vehicle is necessary.Candidates need to be available morning and afternoon to coincide with school opening and closing times with all holiday leave to be taken in the school holidays.Dorset Travel is looking for caring, flexible and responsible passenger assistant with an understanding of young people with additional needs.You Must Have Knowledge of moderate and complex learning needsAn understanding of safeguarding childrenRecognition of a hazard and how to report.You must be physically fit with the ability to run, bend, stretch, push, pull, lift, carry and kneel to provide the care required for the position of passenger assistant.Further InformationDorset Travel is also an accredited training centre with experienced and qualified trainers, new staff will be invited onto a full induction training course, providing the tools and knowledge to enable you to work safely and professionally.Full Training Is Provided CoveringSafeguardingManual HandlingEmergency First AidCustomer CarePeripatetic Passenger Assistants are also required to undertake additional Medical Training: Administration of Buccal Midazolam Application of Epi PenPlease note you will need to have Business Insurance in order to undertake this specific role as well as to attend Induction and Refresher Training as well as use of a vehicle in order to undertake the role.This post involves working with children and/or vulnerable adults and/or having access to significant information about them.
