This position is for a full-service family physician (excluding obstetrics or hospital work), providing care inclinic, client’s homes and outreach settings. The Family Physician will work as part of an interdisciplinary team withNurse Practitioners, Community Health Workers, Registered Nurse, allied health, Medical Office Assistants andmore. The Family Physician will be a staff of Collingwood Neighbourhood House, reporting to the RISE CHCmanager.Schedule: 38 hours/week, Tuesdays remote work 9:00am- 3:30pm, Wednesday 9:00am – 5:30pm, Thursday 9:00am-5:30pm, Friday 9:30-6:30pm & Saturday 9:00– 5:00pm, half-hour unpaid lunch break.Skills And QualificationsRegistered and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of B.C.Certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)Medical indemnity coverage with Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)2 or more years of experience working as a Family Physician in a community-based primary health care settingDemonstrates commitment to the concepts underpinning the unique role of Community Health Centres and a desire to collaboratively contribute to this CHC’s vision, mission and valuesExperience providing primary care for clients with addictions, including ability to effectively prescribe and manage Opioid Agonist TherapyDemonstrates a high level of clinical skill and competence working with socially complex clientsAn egalitarian philosophy and non-judgmental attitude (i.e. gender, culture, race, sexual orientation, language, ability and more)Previous experience providing culturally safe, trauma informed care to marginalized populationsExperience working with interdisciplinary, culturally diverse teamsExperience applying strategies or practices to address social determinants of health and health inequityExperience providing outreach in community settings and in people’s homesAbility to deal effectively with conflict situations, manage challenging behavior, and use non-violent crisis intervention and behavioral management techniquesMust be fully vaccinated against COVID-19Assets IncludeFluency in identified non-official languages based on neighbourhood demographicsExperience with OSCAR EMRJob DetailsSalary and Benefits: $159.21/hrSalaried, Non-Fee-For-Service, no overhead contribution requiredPaid vacation starting at 4 weeks per year plus paid sick days Extended health and dental benefits; Multi-sector pension planAnnual reimbursement for: professional malpractice liability protection, College of Physicians and Surgeons on British Columbia duesAfter hours shift premiumFive days each year with pay for participation in Continuing Medical Education (CME) plus reimbursement for CME expenditures as per the Benefits Subsidiary AgreementApplication ProcessApplicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada. Services are delivered by a diverse interdisciplinary team, working in partnership with other Collingwood Neighbourhood House departments and partnering agencies. The CHC has 4 exam rooms and 4 counselling/multi-purpose spaces, and conducts appointments both virtually and in person. There are 2-3 MOAs working to support 4 providers at any given time. The patient population consists of newcomers, LGBTQ2S+, Indigenous individuals, isolated seniors, youth, people experiencing homelessness, those working in the sex trade, and individuals facing mental health and substance use issues. RISE serves a large number of children and families and provides medical outreach to some low income buildings in the neighborhood. PLS is used for interpretation but additional languages are an asset; including Mandarin/Cantonese, Spanish, Arabic and others for the diverse neighbourhood.HoursMonday-Friday 9:30am-6:30pmSaturdays 9:00am-5pmOther Relevant Information: Rise Community Health Centre (CHC) is a department of Collingwood Neighbourhood House (CNH) and is funded by the Ministry of Health.
