About the Role The Permit to Work (PTW) Team Leader reports to the Head of Health Safety and Wellbeing and is responsible for leading and developing the Permit to Work team to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant control of work activities across the Auckland Airport (AKL) precinct.  We are seeking an experienced and strategic leader provides people leadership, operational oversight, and subject matter expertise in the implementation and continuous improvement of the PTW system. This role requires a strategic thinker who can build and nurture key relationships and manage stakeholder meetings and communication.What you will be doingA key requirement of this role will be to lead the implementation of the Permit to Work system and transition to an Authority to Work methodology for both the Airport and our partners.Your key responsibilities are:Develop and lead a motivated team by ensuring cross-skilling of the team, developing efficient rosters, fostering a positive cultureLead and manage the Permit to Work team by overseeing daily operations, supporting peak activity periods, leading Traffic Management permits, and maintaining the Permit to Work manual.Lead the development and implementation of AKL's new Authority to Work framework and digital Permit to Work solution by scoping stakeholder needs, advising on safety design, and managing the programme transition. Establish robust processes for data migration, system maintenance, and quality assurance to ensure full visibility and long-term effectiveness across the airport precinct.Oversee monthly reporting of Permit to Work data and metrics, conduct site audits, implement recommendations, and report compliance issues.Establish and nurture collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners, and regulators, using strong influencing skills.Align Permit to Work practices with AKL's Authority to Work framework and drive compliance.Role model Auckland Airport's commitment to "People First" Health, Safety & Wellbeing approach What you'll bring to the roleAt Auckland Airport, we are a busy hive of activity, and a lot of what we look for is how you would align with our AKL values All In | Tātou tatou - How we feel, Know How | Kōkiri Tahi - How we think and Let's Go | Karawhiua - How we act. The PTW Team Leader will champion a strong safety culture, drive system performance and compliance, and enable safe work delivery through effective stakeholder engagement and assurance processes. To ensure your success in this role, you will need:Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Health and Safety role Plus, a minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar compliance or regulation role Demonstrated experience working in a compliance role within a heavily regulated environment  Working knowledge of HSAWA 2015 legislation Sound understanding of CAA Legislation Demonstrated people leadership skills  Strong project management, presentation and communication skills Highly adaptable, with a growth and continuous improvement mindset Self-motivated and capable of working both independently and within a large team Strong technology skills including Excel  Diploma or Certificate in Health and Safety  Traffic Management qualification  About usFrom the arrival of the Tainui Waka into the Manukau Harbour, Auckland Airport has always been a place of journeys.
