Growing together.The Clinical Pharmacy Manager (Inpatient) is responsible in planning, organizing, control, and supervising clinical activities in hospital pharmacy according to hospital policies, standards of practice of the profession, and State and Federal laws. Recommends innovations in the practice and function of the hospital pharmacy to Administration and carries out mutually agreed upon programsPrimary ResponsibilitiesLead the development, implementation, and oversight of clinical pharmacy services, treatment guidelines, protocols, and formulary initiativesEnsure safe, appropriate, and cost effective medication therapy through clinical review, therapeutic recommendations, and monitoring for interactions, allergies, and dosing accuracyProvide clinical consultation and drug information to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionalsSupervise, train, and evaluate pharmacists, residents, students, and other pharmacy staff; maintain competency programs and staff developmentOversee pharmacoeconomic assessments, drug utilization reviews, medication use evaluations, surveillance programs, and adverse drug reaction reportingMaintain accurate documentation of clinical interventions, medication use activities, and departmental data reportingDirect pharmacy operations by guiding workflow, providing professional and technical support, and assisting with routine duties when neededParticipate in interdisciplinary patient rounds and support development of clinical pathways, disease management plans, and patient care initiativesServe as a key member of the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee and other hospital committees, preparing and presenting required reportsDevelop and maintain drug information resources, including educational programs and communication tools such as newslettersEnsure regulatory compliance with hospital policies, state and federal requirements, and accreditation standardsSupport department planning, policy development, and implementation of new programs, services, and quality improvement initiativesPromote effective communication, teamwork, professionalism, and patient advocacy across all pharmacy and clinical interactionsRespond promptly to customer inquiries or concerns and maintain confidentiality in all patient care mattersAssist with budget planning, cost control strategies, resource allocation, and maintaining accurate charging processesEvaluate new services or service modifications to meet patient needs and optimize revenue opportunitiesParticipate in hospital committees, projects, professional organizations, and community education effortsYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required QualificationsB.S. or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited School of PharmacyCurrent pharmacist license in good standing with the appropriate State Board of PharmacyCompletion of a 1-year pharmacy practice residency, specialty residency, or fellowship1+ years of experience as a Pharmacy Manager or leadership roleExperience using computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and pharmacy information systemsEffective communication skills (verbal and written) in Spanish/EnglishProblem solving and analytical thinking abilityAt UnitedHealth Group, our mission is to help people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone.
