The Institute for Accounting of the University of Bern, Managerial Accounting section (Prof. Dr. Markus C. Arnold), is seeking to fill a PhD position.Candidates need to have a Master's degree (or be close to completion) in business administration, economics or a related subject.You also have an interest in research in the field of managerial accounting. We expect you to have very good knowledge of managerial accounting and agency theory or psychological theories. Knowledge of experimental research methods or survey research is desirable. You should be fluent in German and/or English.Successful applicants become part of the Swiss Doctoral Program Network in Accounting Research (DAR-CH) jointly organized by the Universities of Basel, Bern, Neuchâtel, and Zurich. The network partners provide their PhD candidates with the opportunity to participate in doctoral courses offered by the three universities and their network partners. The courses are taught by renowned professors of leading U.S. and European universities and faculty members of the participating institutions. The program offers several possibilities for international mobility and network building within the academic accounting community.The salary will be determined according to the applicant's qualifications in accordance with the regulations of the University of Bern and the Swiss National Fund.
