PhD in the field of liver regenerative medicine

Job DescriptionThe HPB & Transplant Surgery section, together with the Laboratory of the Department of Surgery, hosts translational research focused on liver disease, liver transplantation, and regenerative medicine. This research is conducted in close collaboration between laboratory scientists, surgeons, and organ perfusionists.As a PhD candidate, you will participate in a project funded by the NWO Nationale Wetenschapsagenda. In this project, the Dutch consortium ‘ARREST’ aims to develop regenerative medicine strategies to repair, regenerate, and optimize injured donor livers that would otherwise be rejected for transplantation. A key technique in this project is the use of ex situ machine perfusion of donor livers.
