Photonics — chips that work with light instead of electricity — are becoming increasingly important in data centers, medical applications, communication, and sensor technology. At Salland Engineering, we focus on developing test solutions for these Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs).

As a Photonics Test Engineer, you will create test solutions for Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) on state-of-the-art Automated Test Equipment (ATE). You will be involved in all aspects of setting up and further developing our test setups. You will be part of the R&D team and collaborate with engineers to deliver the most optimal photonic test solution for our customers. You will also work closely with designers and product engineers from the most innovative PIC companies. Most of your work will take place at our headquarters in Zwolle, with occasional on-site work at customer locations.
What You’ll Be Doing In Your RoleDevelop photonic test solutions: creating proof-of-concepts and contributing to test setups capable of measuring both electrical and optical signals.Characterize PICs according to specifications and report results.Provide technical support during customer interactions (demonstrations and documentation).Contribute to the development of photonic test hardware such as optical and RF probes, operating photonic ATE, and validating complete test solutions.Conduct experiments, analyze data, and report findings.What We Ask From YouA Bachelor’s degree (HBO) in Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics.Affinity with electronics and/of experience with photonics (PICs) or optics.Quick learner having excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.You are persistent, result-oriented and able to make things happen.You have experience with simulation and validation methodologies in photonic and electronic systems, as well as experimental work.Solution driven and always aiming for the best result.You work quality- and cost-consciously within agreed timeline Master the Dutch and English language.You live in the Netherlands and are within a one-hour travel distance.If you are not a Dutch or EU citizen, you already hold a valid Dutch work visa.Where will you be working?Nice to meet you, we are Salland Engineering from Zwolle!
