Job Title: Planning & Economics ManagerIndustry: Oil & Gas UpstreamLocation:LagosJob PurposeOur client, a leading independent Oil and Gas company with over 17 years of operational experience in hydrocarbon exploration, development, and production, is seeking a strategic and experienced Planning & Economics Manager  driving the corporate business planning and budgeting process, developing economic and financial models for investment decisions, managing commercial risks, and ensuring alignment of strategic objectives across all business units (Upstream and Downstream).Key ResponsibilitiesLead corporate strategy and business planning, translating Board objectives into actionable short- and long-term plans.Drive the annual budgeting process, ensuring alignment of financial targets with corporate and operational goals.Develop and maintain robust economic and financial models to support investment evaluations, M&A, and project decisions.Provide strategic economic insights through macroeconomic, fiscal, and market analysis to guide business direction.Support commercial transactions by structuring deals, evaluating risks, and ensuring value-optimized agreements.Implement and manage a corporate risk framework, integrating commercial and operational risk assessments across the business.Monitor and report business performance, conducting variance and trend analyses to drive accountability and improvement.Deliver market intelligence and competitive analysis to inform strategy, pricing, and investment decisions.Coordinate cross-functional integration between Technical, Finance, Legal, and HSE teams for cohesive commercial execution.Lead performance reviews and post-investment evaluations (AARs) to capture lessons learned and continuously improve business outcomes.Qualifications & ExperienceEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or Industrial Management; MBA/MSc is an advantage.Experience: 10–12 years’ relevant experience in business planning, commercial economics, or corporate strategy within the oil and gas industry.Technical Expertise:  Strong proficiency in financial and economic modeling, Petroleum Economics, and value optimization analysis.Skilled in data analysis, budget forecasting, and use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
