This role is for one of the Weekday's clientsMin Experience: 2 yearsLocation: ChennaiJobType: full-timeWe are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Planning Engineer (Electrical) to support project planning, scheduling, monitoring, and coordination across our electrical engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of hands-on experience in planning and execution within the electrical domain, with strong analytical and project management skills. This role requires close collaboration with engineering, procurement, construction, and quality teams to ensure timely completion of projects within defined scope, budget, and safety standards.RequirementsKey Responsibilities Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules using industry-standard planning tools such as MS Project or Primavera P6, ensuring alignment with project requirements, timelines, and milestones. Coordinate project planning activities including resource estimation, budgeting, manpower planning, procurement tracking, and cost forecasting for electrical engineering works. Prepare work breakdown structures (WBS), tracking sheets, bar charts, S-curves, progress reports, and performance dashboards to support informed decision-making. Conduct periodic progress review meetings with site teams, contractors, and stakeholders to monitor schedule adherence and identify delays or bottlenecks. Collaborate with design and engineering teams to understand technical requirements, drawings, load calculations, material specifications, and BOQs for electrical systems. Assist in tendering and estimation processes by providing project timelines, resource allocation, and technical planning support. Track materials delivery, equipment utilization, and subcontractor performance, ensuring on-time availability and minimum project disruption. Perform site visits to verify progress, validate work completion, and ensure alignment with approved plans and quality standards. Develop mitigation strategies and revised action plans to manage project deviations, risks, and unforeseen constraints. Support preparation of weekly, monthly, and client progress reports, presentations, and documentation for project management reviews. Ensure compliance with safety standards, statutory requirements, and project documentation procedures throughout execution. Maintain strong cross-functional coordination across engineering, procurement, site execution, finance, and client teams. Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (mandatory). 2-4 years of relevant experience as a Planning Engineer in electrical projects within EPC, construction, infrastructure, or industrial sectors. Proficiency in planning & scheduling tools such as Primavera P6 and MS Project. Strong knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals, power systems, LV/MV/HV installations, and construction methodologies. Familiarity with BOQ preparation, estimation, vendor management, and resource planning. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong communication and presentation skills for stakeholder coordination and reporting purposes. Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional team environments with a proactive mindset. Preferred Attributes Experience working on large-scale electrical infrastructure, commercial buildings, industrial utilities, substations, or renewable energy projects. Certification in project management or Primavera (preferred but not mandatory)
