About The OpportunityThe Plant Head – Hydropower will be a seasoned engineering professional responsible for overseeing the end-to-end operations, maintenance, and management of the hydropower plant. With 15–20 years of experience in the hydropower sector, the incumbent will ensure safe, efficient, and reliable generation performance while driving process optimization, preventive maintenance, and operational excellence.This role demands strong technical expertise, leadership acumen, and a deep understanding of hydropower systems. The Plant Head will lead multidisciplinary teams to ensure maximum plant availability, cost efficiency, regulatory compliance, and environmental sustainability.Role & ResponsibilitiesOversee daily operations and maintenance of the hydropower plant to ensure optimal generation efficiency. Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime. Manage production planning, performance monitoring, and resource allocation. Ensure adherence to all safety, environmental, and statutory compliance requirements. Lead and mentor technical teams, fostering a culture of safety, performance, and accountability. Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance plant efficiency and cost control. Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and finance teams for project and maintenance activities. Prepare operational reports, analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), and present insights to senior management. Skills & QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred). 15–20 years of experience in hydropower plant operations, maintenance, and management. Proven track record of leading large-scale hydroelectric projects or operational plants. Strong knowledge of turbine-generator systems, control systems, and power evacuation processes. Hands-on experience with SCADA systems, automation, and reliability-centered maintenance. Familiarity with regulatory and environmental frameworks governing hydropower operations. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities. Strong leadership and communication skills with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
