This role is responsible for leading capital and lifecycle maintenance projects, supporting plant reliability efforts, and driving continuous improvement in safety and performance. The engineer will collaborate closely with site operations, maintenance, and engineering teams, managing project scopes, budgets, and schedules while ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.Primary Duties And ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions – Teamwork:Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant WTE facility performance.Support continuous improvement of safety across routine and outage tasks.Prepare reports, business correspondence, and technical documentation as needed.Present information clearly and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers.Follow safety protocols; identify and report safety/environmental hazards.Apply engineering problem-solving to identify and implement solutions.Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, across various platforms.Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to support reliability efforts.Project EngineeringLead and support planning/execution of routine and large-scale lifecycle maintenance projects.Develop strategies for Extended Maintenance Plans aligned with long-term O&M contracts.Manage cross-functional project teams and contractors to ensure safe, on-time, on-budget delivery.Define scopes, schedules, budgets, and action plans; track and report KPIs.Ensure compliance with SOPs, procedures, and vendor performance standards.Review and validate capital project proposals for alignment with business strategy.Manage contract deliverables and reporting requirements.Support development of 1-, 5-, and 10-year capital and maintenance budgets.Boiler Reliability SupportAssist in planning and execution of major outages and ensure schedule alignment.Serve as plant engineer during boiler outages; prepare detailed condition reports.Oversee boiler inspections (in-house and 3rd-party), including UT testing and combustion reviews.Support identification and planning of emergent outage work scopes.Analyze post-outage data to set priorities and recommend corrective actions.Develop/maintain repair specs, capital scopes, and preventive maintenance procedures.Contribute to plant improvement projects and modifications.Utilize OSI/PI Datalink for plant data analysis and maintain equipment history files.Job QualificationsPosition Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, Environmental, or Facilities Engineering preferred).3–5 years of experience in a power plant environment preferred.Strong math and mechanical skills; able to perform basic mechanical tasks and equipment access.Willing to travel up to 25% and work in confined spaces for inspections.Excellent communication skills and ability to work across all organizational levels.Preferred QualificationsReliability Engineering Certification.Experience with MS Project and capital planning.Understanding of Energy-from-Waste (EFW) technology and steam power plant operations.Experience leading cross-functional teams.Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)BenefitsHealth Care Plan (Medical, Dental & Vision)Retirement Plan (401k, IRA)Life Insurance (Basic, Voluntary & AD&D)Paid Time Off (Vacation, Sick & Public Holidays)Short-Term & Long-Term DisabilityTraining & DevelopmentFCC Environmental Services, LLC operates in a multicultural, global environment and is a richly diverse organization operating seamlessly as one company.
