The Policy Research Intern will work with Strategy Co-Directors to collaborate with the ProGeorgia staff and Table Partners to establish and execute policy research opportunities that will enhance the work of the Table to strengthen Democracy. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, an inquisitive approach, data skills, research experience.This internship is also an opportunity to further develop those skills in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe Policy Research Intern reports to the Policy and Redistricting Co-Directorand is responsible for the following:Legislative & Policy ResearchConduct legislative research and analysis on key issues impacting ProGeorgia and its partners.Track the emergence and progress of priority legislative bills.Support post-legislative session analysis and assist in drafting recommendations for educational strategy.Data & Mapping SupportOrganize and analyze data to strengthen power mapping and targeting efforts.Monitor redistricting map changes and collaborate with mapping partners to assess local impacts.Assist with data mining, data cleaning, and other technical tasks as needed.Partner & Coalition EngagementPrepare research materials and summaries to share with partner organizations.Participate in meetings with stakeholders, including the Data Department, to advance research strategy.Gain a strong understanding of ProGeorgia and its coalition members’ core issues and objectives to inform research priorities.Administrative SupportPerform general administrative duties to support the Strategy Team’s operations.PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONSPreferred Skills: Demonstrated skills in research, analysis, and writingProficiency with Microsoft Office and Google SuiteKeen interest in public policy, election administration, census, and redistrictingStrong time management skills, including the ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks appropriately, and schedule multiple projectsA strong understanding of and demonstrated commitment to social and racial justice, civic engagement, and activism.Knowledge of and commitment to personal growth and development on issues of racial equity and diversity, and to supporting others in growth around issues of racial equity.Strong relationship-building and communication skills. Experience working in coalitions and public interest organizations.Attention to detailSound judgment and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential informationAbility to work collaboratively with colleagues in a fast-paced environmentExcellent organizational skills with an ability to think proactively and prioritize work.Experience working with underrepresented and/or diverse communities is a plusLEADERSHIP COMPETENCIESAdhering to and encouraging others to be cognizant and compliant of safety and security measures within the organization.Avoids and reports potentially unsafe conditionsUses equipment and materials properly.Has a broad, big-picture view of the organization and its mission.Innovates through analysis of issues and trends.Anticipates emerging crises and opportunities.Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress) in Political Science, Data Science, Public Policy, or a related field.Prior experience conducting research and analysis using a variety of data sources.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Direct experience with the legislative process preferredFamiliarity with redistricting, election administration, or census-related policy issues preferredPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computerMust be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.LocationThe position is located in Atlanta, Georgia, with the ability to work a remote schedule with some required travel (10%).Reports to: Policy and Redistricting Co-DirectorCompensation: Up to $24 an hour.Academic credit available for applicable Universities.Timeframe: Temporary position, January 2026-December 2026Position Type: Part-time (20-25 hours per week)Schedule: Flexible within standard business hours, with some evenings and weekends as needed (specific schedule to be determined in collaboration with the supervisor)
