Job DescriptionAbout New PorgeraNew Porgera Limited (NPL) is a company incorporated in Papua New Guinea and owns the Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province. The Porgera Gold Mine will employ nearly 3,000 Papua New Guineans at full production, and over the last 30 years of life of the mine it has contributed approximately 10% of Papua New Guinea’s total annual exports.The New Porgera Limited now has a vacancy for a qualified and experienced individual as Foreman – Crusher and Sag mill.About The RoleReporting to the Superintendent - Maintenance, the Forman will play a key role in supporting the daily operations of the Crusher and Sag Mill team, supervising and coordinating maintenance activities to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of our fixed plant equipment. Providing clear directives from Superintendent to work force via supervisors to ensure all safety procedures are followed and oversee daily priorities are implemented with applying Barrick core values and standards and demonstrates leadership.In This Role, You WillGuide the team in the completion of tasks, to ensure achievement of the shift planEnsure Equipment and Machines are available to perform tasksMaintain work standards in accordance with government regulations and company policyEnsure training requirements are metCarry out other relative duties as directed by the SuperintendentRecommends measures to improve maintenance methods, equipment performance, and quality of repair work carried out by tradesmanSuggests changes in working procedures and use of equipment to increase efficiency of maintenance proceduresAnalyses and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problemsCompetent in a methodical approach to trouble shooting problems with Machines and equipment within Fixed PlantStudy production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignmentsAbility to train National tradesmen and serviceman in all areas of Fixed Plant Fitter maintenanceEstablish or adjust work priorities to meet operations production schedules with open pit, underground and processing, supervision and ensure work is being scheduled to meet maintenance resourcesConfer with other foremen to coordinate activities of individual departmentsPrepare and maintain competency-based appraisal system for tradesperson and assistantsDevelop JHA’s and SWP’s and maintain the relevant data base recordsSupervise and guide tradesperson to ensure maintenance plans and production targets are achieved safely and efficientlyEnsure plant equipment is maintained, available, and reliable to meet operational needsPromote and enforce high standards in health, safety, and environmental complianceLead inspections, safety meetings, job safety analyses (JSAs), and toolbox talksIdentify and implement improvements in maintenance methods and work practicesMentor and train National tradesmen, supporting workforce development and localisation goalsConduct performance reviews, provide regular feedback, and support team development through structured training programsEnsure full compliance with Barrick policies, including the Code of Conduct, Community Relations Standards, Environmental and Safety Management SystemsAbout YouTo succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experiences:Trade Certification – Recognised Tradesman Certificate in Mechanical Fitting or equivalent.Must have more than 5 years of experience in leadership roleExperience in fixed plant maintenance within a mining or heavy industrial environmentStrong communication and interpersonal skills – able to communicate effectively across all levels and culturesCompetent in English (written and spoken); Tok Pisin is an advantage.Ability to lead, train, and mentor team members, promoting skill development and knowledge transferHighly attention to detail with a strong focus on safety, hazard awareness, and compliance.Self-motivated, reliable, and capable of working independently and within a teamDemonstrated ability to build trust, foster collaboration, and support team ownershipCulturally aware and respectful, with a willingness to engage and learn from diverse backgrounds.Mobilization Requirement This is a PNG National position, a site-based role on a FIFO arrangement with a rotation of 21 days on and 14 days off. Candidates must successfully pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening (to be arranged only for successful candidates after the interview stage), and provide an up-to-date Police Clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months). Candidates must be PNG Nationals and available to start immediately.
