The project focuses onunderstanding and improving the physical principles governinggenome packaging and stability in adeno-associated virus (AAV)vectors, which are used for treating genetic diseases.The scholarship recipient will gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge biophysical and molecular techniques, including small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), atomic force microscopy (AFM), andrecombinant AAV production.Through this scholarship, the scholar will develop interdisciplinaryexpertise at the intersection of biophysics, structural biology, and genetherapy, and will learn to translate physical insights into newbiotechnology solutions.Qualifications- To be eligible for a postdoc scholarship at Lund University therecipient must hold a PhD degree within a relevant field.- The PhD degree must not be older than three years.- The applicant must not have been employed at Lund University inthe past two years.- The candidate should have a strong background in biophysics,molecular virology, structural biology, or a related discipline.- Documented experience with biophysical or biochemicalmethods such as SAXS, AFM, or viral vector production ismeritorious.- A demonstrated interest in gene therapy, viral assembly mechanisms,or physical properties of biomolecules is desirable.- The candidate should have good analytical and communicationskills, a high level of motivation for independent learning, and anability to work in an interdisciplinary research environment.- The scholarship is intended for educational and scientific trainingpurposes, and the recipient is expected to further develop their research skills and independence through participation in the project’sactivities.Written application including reference number is sent bye-mail to the contact person and is to contain:- PhD Diploma- CV- Personal letter, stating the reasons why the project suits theapplicant (maximum one page)- List of publications- References (2)Information regarding scholarships at Lund University- The scholarship follows Lund University regulations STYR2020/1283.- Scholarships are intended for the recipient’s own educationand do not represent remuneration for work carried out on theUniversity’s behalf.- The department and the recipient are to formulate, in writing,an agreed study plan for the recipient’s development.- The postdoctoral scholarship is paid quarterly.- Approved scholarships are reassessed every six months.Scholarship recipients are to complete their education/careerdevelopment and satisfy attendance requirements inaccordance with their course plan/study plan/professionaldevelopment plan. In the event of misconduct, or if therecipient is not deemed able to complete their education/careerdevelopment due to illness or on other grounds, scholarshipfunds that have been granted but not yet paid may bewithdrawn.- The scholarship is a gift and is therefore not taxed. It ispossible that the recipient may be taxed in their home country– something the recipient should investigate beforehand.- Scholarships do not entitle the recipient to sick pay, parentalleave, holiday pay or pensions.- The recipient is not entitled to subsistence allowance fortravel.- The recipient is protected by insurance coverage but mustcheck their own insurance requirements. - Scholarships to a single individual at Lund University may notexceed a total of 24 months.- The recipient is to be treated equally with other students in thesame situation regardless of financing while being assured ofand contributing to a good work environment.
