Do you want to join a successful research group at Karolinska Institutet, working at the forefront of data-driven clinical epidemiological transfusion research? We now have an opening for an ERC-funded post-doctoral researcher who will join Gustaf Edgren’s research group, working on a range of important issues relevant for blood safety.Your missionWe are recruiting a post doc in epidemiology or biostatistics, who has a genuine interest for – and experience from – working with large-scale epidemiologic data analysis. The applicant will join a well-funded research group that primarily conducts research on short- and long-term complications of blood transfusions, as well as on possible health effects of repeated blood donation. Examples of ongoing studies include, but are not limited to, donor health and disease transmission from blood donors to transfused patients. Research is mostly based on the SCANDAT database, a comprehensive database on blood donations and transfusions with health outcomes of both donors and transfused patients, dating back to the 1960's.As a post doc you will lead projects relating to blood safety, working with internationally unique, large-scale data. In this role you will:Work at the forefront of data-driven transfusion research, in a dynamic and active research groupHelp formulate research questions, and be responsible for developing and executing analysesPrepare results for publication and external presentationDepending on your interests you may also have the opportunity to develop your own projects and research line, within the research group’s focus area, and to participate in teaching activities as well as in the mentoring of doctoral and master students.Your profileWe a searching for a highly motivated and creative post doc with extensive experience of large-scale epidemiological analysis, with the following background:A PhD in a relevant field (epidemiology, biostatistics, health data science, or other highly quantitative fields)Very strong data and programming skills (e.g. R, Python, SAS, Stata, SQL) and proficiency in applied statistical analysisPrevious successful research is required, with publications in high-quality international journals Documented experience from having worked with large-scale, complex data, such as health care datasets with millions of observations or biggerA medical degree, or at least some experience from the medical field, is preferableFluency in English (both written and spoken) is a requirementTo be eligible for employment as a postdoctor, a PhD or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a Swedish PhD is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. Completion of your doctoral degree within the last three years is considered an advantage.
