Working arrangementsPlease note this role does offer hybrid working, our model sets out a minimum 60% onsite / 40% home working split.Overview TE Magnetics is a new business division within Tokamak Energy. We want to usher in the HTS era. This is a production leadership role within the MBU focused on developing and improving our production structures to manage day-to-day activities across the manufacturing section of the MBU. We recognise we are in our infancy, but we are ambitious have big plans to grow fast and make a global impact. We need a production leader to help us shape our processes to ensure we operate efficiently and effectively where each contributing member is maximising the use of their key skills.Join Tokamak Energy to design and prototype the power-electronics that will enable our next-generation power products. You'll convert systems requirements into converters and PDUs, run hands-on lab testing, and help deliver demonstrators that prove performance and reliability. Ideal for engineers who enjoy turning challenging specs into working hardware.RequirementsTake system specifications and independently design, prototype and validate power-electronics solutions (converters, power stages, control, filtering and protection)Develop converter control algorithms, stability analysis and EMI/thermal mitigation strategies; turn designs into reliable prototypes and test artefactsLead detailed hardware testing (efficiency, thermal, EMC, fault-insertion) including critical component characterisation; iterate designs to meet system acceptance criteriaCollaborate closely with the Senior Electrical Systems Engineer to align designs with roadmap, safety and lifecycle requirementsDefine manufacturing-ready BOMs, drawings and handover artefacts for pilot buildsSupport commissioning and lab integration, and mentor technicians during prototype builds and tests. RequirementsExperience in power-electronics design and hands-on prototyping (converter topologies, power stages, control)Strong practical test experience{{:}} lab instrumentation, thermal and EMC testing, and fault injectionComfortable with system-level DC power concepts and protection approachesAble to work independently from spec to prototype and to document results clearlyNice-to-haveFamiliarity with modern wide-bandgap devices (SiC/GaN), and DC systems used in datacentres/telecomAttributesComfortable working with multiple engineering disciplines, and able to translate system-level requirements into specificationsAble to manage ambiguity and iteration, adapting to new information to ultimately de-risk the end-productCapable of working independently and steering technical priorities within the inter-disciplinary project teamSkilled in technical communication, documentation, prototype development, and hands-on lab experienceWilling to tackle operational challenges head-on, with the motivation and skills to overcome these when they ariseBenefitsSalary dependent on skills and experience and will be discussed from the outset25 days holiday plus bank holidaysDiscretionary 3-day festive break depending on business needsEligible for discretionary performance related bonusShare options schemePension scheme Financial benefits - including; group life insurance, critical illness, health cash plan and discount scheme  Innovation and Merit bonusesInvestment in training and development to support career progressionOpportunity to work on and contribute to world class innovation Company backgroundTokamak Energy is a leading global commercial fusion energy company based near Oxford.
