PowerBI Developer - Fixed Term Contract

To achieve this, we need great people, who share in our values.As a Power BI Developer, you will play a key role in shaping the insights that drive our livestock services. You'll collaborate with the team through regular stand-ups, contribute to planning, and help keep priorities aligned. Your work will focus on enhancing existing Power BI reports, developing new data visualisations that add real value, and producing ad hoc insights that support informed decision-making across the organisation.You'll partner closely with stakeholders to understand their data needs and turn these into impactful, user-friendly reporting solutions. You'll ensure all outputs meet both functional requirements and performance standards, creating reports that are reliable, intuitive, and built for real-world use. You'll also use DevOps to maintain Epics, Themes, Features, User Stories, and Tasks, supporting smooth delivery and effective teamwork.ResponsibilitiesYour responsibilities will includeCollaborate with stakeholders to understand, define, and manage their reporting requirementsWork closely with Data Engineers to ensure data models effectively support reporting needsHandle personal data securely and compliantly, following all relevant policies and legislationDevelop, deploy, and maintain Power BI solutions, including data models, reports, gateways, and pipelinesTroubleshoot and optimise the Power BI environment to ensure reliability and high performanceDesign user-friendly, intuitive Power BI reports tailored to audience needs and consumptionDeliver user training and create clear, accessible support materials to help colleagues make the most of reporting toolsStay informed about industry trends and best practices, applying them to LI where beneficialTake a proactive approach to managing data quality and building strong stakeholder relationshipsYou may be required to undertake other duties assigned by your line manager as appropriateRequirementsWe are looking for someone with the followingExpert-level experience in Power BI development, including the creation of high-quality reports and dashboardsStrong understanding of data modelling and data visualisation principles, with the ability to apply best practices effectivelyAdvanced SQL proficiency for data extraction, transformation, and manipulationHighly competent in DAX, with the ability to develop complex calculations and measuresProficient in Power Platform tools, including Power Apps and Power AutomateSolid understanding of data warehousing concepts and their application in reporting solutionsExceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilitiesExcellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholdersAble to work independently as well as part of a team, managing workload and priorities effectivelyFlexible and adaptable, with the ability to respond to evolving business requirementsFoundational knowledge of AI and Machine Learning conceptsStrong understanding of Azure Data Factory (ADF) and its role in data integrationFamiliarity with tools such as ALM Toolkit, Tabular Editor, and DAX StudioExperience using Azure DevOps for defining tasks, managing work items, and supporting delivery processesQualificationsYou will hold the following qualifications{{:}} Bachelor's degree in computer science, data analytics, or relevant fieldsReporting structure  The Power BI Developer role sits within the Data Team which is part of the Service Department. The role reports into the Head of Data Governance who reports into the Service Director.
