A £25m turnover growing SME in Doncaster are looking for a seasoned, hands-on Head of Finance to lead and transform the finance function in a growing, multi-site group across Northern England. This role goes beyond traditional finance—it’s about delivering real-time visibility into profitability, cash flow, and operational performanceThis is an opportunity to embed yourself in the heart of the business, working directly with the Owner and operational teams to improve profit margins, control costs, and ensure long-term financial sustainability.
You’ll be both strategic and tactical, with the systems mindset to make reporting smarter, faster, and more meaningful. Autonomy and visibility—be a true partner to the Owner, not buried in the back office. Take full ownership of financial operations, including budgeting, monthly management accounts, statutory reporting, and audit. Produce timely, accurate reports with commentary that clearly explains variances, trends, and risks—tailored for both finance and non-finance audiences. Ensure rigorous financial control and compliance across all sites, aligned with sector regulations and best practices. Maintain relationships with banks, auditors, and external stakeholders.
Lead cash flow forecasting and working capital optimisationIdentify underperformance early and work with operational managers to implement corrective actions at a local level. Lead and mentor the finance teamDrive automation and digitisation—minimise manual processing and improve reporting speed and accuracy. You will be;Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) ideally in a Head of Finance or Commercial Finance role. Strong track record in multi-site service businessesDeep understanding of profit and loss dynamics, cash flow, and cost structures in operational environments. Proven ability to track and improve profit margins through both commercial levers and operational insights.
