Position Summary:The Pre-Owned Car Purchaser is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, negotiating, and purchasing high-quality pre-owned vehicles for Carzilla Motors’ inventory. This role requires strong market knowledge, exceptional negotiation skills, and a keen eye for vehicle quality and resale potential. The ideal candidate ensures that all vehicle acquisitions align with the dealership’s inventory needs, pricing strategy, and quality standards.Key Responsibilities:Vehicle Acquisition & EvaluationIdentify and source pre-owned vehicles through auctions, trade-ins, private sellers, wholesalers, and online platforms.Inspect and appraise vehicles accurately for mechanical condition, cosmetic appearance, and market value.Utilize vehicle history reports, inspection tools, and market data to make informed purchasing decisions.Maintain a consistent pipeline of desirable vehicles to support sales targets.Market & Inventory ManagementAnalyze current market trends, pricing data, and consumer demand to guide purchasing decisions.Collaborate with sales and management teams to ensure vehicle mix aligns with dealership goals.Track and report on inventory turnover, profitability, and sourcing performance.Negotiation & Relationship ManagementNegotiate purchase prices and terms with private sellers, auction representatives, and wholesalers to achieve optimal margins.Build and maintain strong relationships with vehicle suppliers, auction contacts, and industry partners.Represent Carzilla Motors professionally at vehicle auctions and networking events.Compliance & DocumentationEnsure all vehicle purchases comply with state regulations and dealership policies.Accurately complete and maintain purchase paperwork, titles, and related documents.Verify VIN, mileage, and ownership details to prevent acquisition of problematic vehicles.Qualifications & Skills:Minimum 2–3 years of experience in automotive purchasing, used car appraisal, or dealership operations.Strong knowledge of vehicle makes, models, trim levels, and market values.Proficiency with vehicle history and pricing tools (e.g., CARFAX, vAuto, Kelley Blue Book, Manheim Market Reports).Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.Detail-oriented with strong analytical and decision-making ability.Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.Preferred Attributes:Previous experience purchasing vehicles for a pre-owned dealership or auto group.Understanding of reconditioning processes and cost estimation.Familiarity with auction platforms (Manheim, ADESA, Copart, etc.).Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet acquisition targets.
