POSITION SUMMARY:This role is responsible for leading a team of Customer Solutions Engineer's, whose main responsibility is identifying, qualifying, and managing project-based sales opportunities in collaboration with Territory Sales Managers (TSMs), distributors, contractors, and engineering partners. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, estimating, or construction management, a passion for delivering technical solutions that meet customer needs and a the ability to build and lead a team.WHAT YOU’LL DOAs a Preconstruction Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of Customer Solutions Engineers whose main focus is identifying, qualifying, and managing project-based sales opportunities in collaboration with Territory Sales Managers (TSMs), distributors, contractors, and engineering partners.Key responsibilities include:Sales Opportunity IdentificationLead the team to work with TSMs to identify and qualify sales opportunitiesOversee the utilization of online bid resources to identify conversion opportunitiesEvaluate incoming opportunities from distributors and contractorsDevelop project-specific action items for qualified opportunities in collaboration with TSMsProject ManagementSupervise the entry and maintenance of projects in CRMInitiate and oversee action items for drafting, engineering, etc.Monitor project probability and anticipated ship datesReview deliverables received from drafting/engineering for accuracy and completenessCollaborate with TSMs on pricing strategy and generate quotes/quote requestsEnsure timely delivery of budget quotes, formal quotes, and drawings to TSMs or customersStakeholder EngagementLead engagement with external project partners (engineers, distributors, contractors, agencies, etc.) as directed by TSMsProcess OptimizationMaintain and update the competitor databaseDrive process optimization initiatives with a focus on continuous improvementWHAT YOU BRINGTo be successful in this role, you will need:Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (required)5–7 years of related experience within construction, civil, or civil manufacturing of underground utilitiesStrong leadership skills with prior team management experienceExperience reading blueprintsExperience as an estimator or in inside sales within construction (preferred)Experience with Stormwater or underground utilities (preferred)Excellent verbal and written communication skillsProficiency with MS Office Suite, CRM systems, and Bluebeam softwareAbility to travel occasionally (1–2 times per year)YOU WILL STAND OUT IF YOUBring deep knowledge of underground utilities or Stormwater solutionsHave proven success leading technical sales or estimating teamsExcel at building strong partnerships with distributors, contractors, and engineersDemonstrate a proactive approach to process improvement and continuous optimizationELIGIBILITYMust be authorized to work in the U.S. on permanent basis without any sponsorship.WHY JOIN MATTR?Competitive SalaryMedical, dental & vision coverage with HSA contributions401(k) with company matchAttractive incentive bonus plansEmployer-paid Life, AD&D, and Long-Term Disability insuranceWellness incentivesFree Employee Assistance Program (EAP)Discounts on fitness, shopping & travel (Blue365, LifeMart & more)Educational AssistancePaid Time OffParenting Benefits
