Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary Art Teacher to join our vibrant educational community. As a Primary Art Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and developmentally appropriate art lessons that foster creativity, artistic expression, and an appreciation for visual culture. This position involves working with students across primary grade levels, helping them develop confidence in their artistic abilities, technical skills, and a positive, inquisitive attitude toward the arts.Key Responsibilities:Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality art lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum and learning objectives, covering a variety of media, techniques, and art historical contexts.Use a variety of instructional strategies and resources to meet the diverse learning needs of students, including hands-on projects, visual examples, and cross-curricular integration.Create a supportive and inclusive studio environment that encourages artistic exploration, risk-taking, and respect for all creative endeavors.Assess and monitor student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and adjusting instruction to nurture individual artistic growth and technical skill development.Integrate art history, diverse cultures, and contemporary art to make the subject relevant and inspiring.Communicate effectively with parents and colleagues regarding student progress, art exhibitions, and classroom activities.Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required, including organizing and displaying student artwork for school events.Foster a positive classroom culture that promotes respect, curiosity, and a growth mindset in artistic expression.RequirementsA graduate from a reputable university with a minimum Bachelor Degree in Art, Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field.Minimum of 2 years’ experience in teaching Art to students in the Primary age group, preferably in an International School setting or in a school where English is the mode of instruction.Good English Communication skills and writing skills.Familiarization with the Australian Curriculum or IB with respect to the Arts is an advantage.Other QualificationsPossesses strong classroom management skills with a high degree of responsibility towards teaching as well as students' artistic and academic progress.Able to work cooperatively and collaboratively in a multi-cultural educational environment.Familiar with the inquiry-based teaching and learning process and capable of using various teaching strategies and approaches appropriate for an art studio setting.Proficient in using Microsoft products, applications and services and is able to use technology efficiently for educational and artistic purposes (e.g., basic digital art tools, documentation, presentation).
