The successful candidate will focus on developing biosolutions for a range of applications (Fresh Dairy, Plant Based Dairy Alternatives etc.) by combining different bacterial strains into fermentation cultures. This role requires a strong foundation in microbiology, biochemistry, and food science, complemented by a passion for data analysis and working with data models. Additionally, an analytical mindset and a problem-solving approach are essential for tackling challenges effectively.Welcome to the area of combinatorial microbiology You will be part of the Combinatorial Biosolution department, comprised of 42 highly skilled scientists and technicians organized into four teams, each with distinct areas of responsibility. This department is a vital component of the Applied R&D at Novonesis.The Combinatorial Biosolution department plays a crucial role in both short- and long-term new product development projects. We have consistently developed cultures for a diverse range of applications, including cheese, fresh dairy, and dairy alternatives, utilizing a combinatorial microbiology approach. Combinatorial microbiology is the art of integrating microorganisms into a final culture, leveraging digital tools and application-relevant model systems. Additionally, the department emphasizes the development of laboratory methods at micro, small, and medium scales, alongside digital competencies and skills essential for creating the biosolutions of the future.We are now ready for a new challenge as we aim to pioneer the world of biosolutions, harnessing the combined effects of enzymes and bacterial cultures. This journey toward innovative biosolutions will demand new competencies within combinatorial microbiology, and we are actively seeking individuals with a strong digital and modelling profile to join us on this exciting path.In This Role You’ll Make An Impact ByYou will play a key role in advancing innovative biosolutions by harnessing the synergies between enzymes and microbial cultures to enhance a wide range of fermented dairy products, such as yogurts. As part of our cutting-edge biosolutions portfolio, your expertise will help tackle the industry's latest challenges while driving the development of more effective, efficient, and sustainable solutions for our customers.In this dynamic role, you will explore the synergistic interactions between microbial cultures and enzymes, uncover novel approaches to improve product performance, and lead initiatives that push the boundaries of innovation within the industry.Your Primary Responsibilities Will IncludeData-Driven Experiments: Use advanced Design of Experiments (DoE) methodologies to find the perfect combinations of enzymes and culturesBuild High-Throughput Models: Develop and validate high-throughput systems that simulate industrial applications, leveraging statistical and computational tools to enhance predictive modeling capabilities.Leverage Predictive Analytics: Drive computationally assisted developments by integrating predictive analytics into workflows and championing the use of our combinatorial platform.Stay Ahead of Advances: Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in prediction methods and AI for culture fermentation interactions.Shape Strategic Direction: Define objectives and roadmaps for combinatorial microbiology, aligning innovation with long-term business goals.Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams to translate insights into application-ready biosolutions.Lead Projects: Serve as project manager for new product development and skill-building initiatives.What We’re Looking ForExperience with enzyme kinetics and dynamic modelling plus experience in modelling genome scale metabolic modelsFlair for innovation and curiosity of how an enzyme in combinations with cultures can solve tomorrow’s problems in real applicationsStrong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tackling technical challenges.Proven Expertise in fermentation, enzyme functionality, experimental design (DoE), and statistical modeling.Proficiency in applying data analytics, chemometric techniques (e.g. PCA, PLS) or other computational tools to solve scientific challenges plus a strong interest for applying predictive toolsLocation: HørsholmApplication Deadline: November 7, 2025.
