In This Role You Will lead significant projects to develop human and social recovery and resilience focussed strategies and policies. identify emerging policy issues affecting communities, community recovery partners and provide high level advice to the department and government on risks, issues and opportunities.During an event activation you may need to provide ongoing delivery of Community Recovery services.Key responsibilities for the Principal Policy Officer, Strategy and Engagement are:Lead and manage complex policy projects to ensure the strategic goals and objectives of the department and the government are achieved, including conducting policy analysis, research, development and evaluation of policy options and preparation of policy advice.Prepare submissions, briefs, ministerial and departmental correspondence including preparing responses and policy advice for the Minister, the Director- General and Senior Executives within the department.Identify opportunities, anticipate risks and issues, and provide evidence informed, strategic advice to executives within the department.Employ strong project governance, including robust planning, scheduling, risk management, delivery and reporting of milestones to internal and external stakeholders.Develop and coordinate the department's input into whole-of-government activities that inform the department's decision making, policy responses and future directions.Establish and maintain professional and effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure an integrated approach to deliver on departmental priorities and initiatives.Role Specific/Technical SkillsDuring a disaster activation you may be required to work extra hours for an extended period of time and participate in a five days on / two days off staggered roster where your days off may not be Saturday and/or Sunday.Some intra-state travel may be required.Your Desirable RequirementsUnderstanding of the Disaster Management arrangements in Queensland, with focus on the role of Community Recovery as the state lead for Human and Social Recovery.How To ApplyClick to apply for this opportunity and submit the following:Resume and minimum of 2 referees including their email addresses.
