In this role, you will be working with engineers from your team and our customers’ teams to apply your skills, perspectives, and creativity to grow as engineers and help solve our customers’ toughest challenges.We are hiring a Principal Software Engineer with deep experience and expertise in designing and delivering solutions using modern software engineering practices and cloud technologies. You will be working side-by-side with high-impact and strategic customers and their engineers to build innovative solutions. Join us and help create life-changing innovations that impact billions around the world!Responsibilities・Guides partnership with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project manager, technical lead) to determine user requirements within and across teams.・Guides teams and leads identification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.・Optimizes, debugs, refactors, and reuses code to improve performance and maintainability, effectiveness, and return on investment (ROI).・Guides team to drive multiple group's project plans, release plans, and work items in coordination with appropriate stakeholders (e.g., project managers).・Guides team and acts as an expert for Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) and monitors other engineers across product lines, working on call to monitor system/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.・Leads product development and scaling to customer requirements and applies best practices for meeting scaling needs and performance expectations and holds accountability for products that do not meet expectations.Understand User RequirementsCollaborates with stakeholders on user requirements and feedback for features. Applies various feedback channels to improve designs or solutions. Measures customer value, usage patterns, and other metrics of value.DesignLeads and coaches others in designing, testing, and securing solutions for products/solutions.Working hands-on with your team and our customers from design through implementation of large-scale distributed systems, setting examples for good engineering practices and coding along the way.CodingLeads and coaches team members in code quality, debugging, and performance improvement.ImplementCoaches team on project management, experimentation, and deployment across products.Reliability and SupportabilityCoaches others on live service operations, issue resolution, and telemetry data analysis for system performance and functionality.Engineering ExcellenceContinuously building your technical knowledge and improving our ability to deliver quality solutions by evolving our engineering process and technical capabilities.Coaches others on developing and using tools, automation, and compliance for a product.Other Embody our culture and valuesQualificationsRequired Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.Experience building cloud based solutionsExperience managing and leading other software engineersExperience investigating customer requirements and translating those into solution architectureBusiness level Japanese and English language skills.Preferred QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experienceExperience building solutions with Generative AI technologiesSolid design and coding skills with a bias for architecture at scaleDemonstrated ability to work with customers and collaborate across company boundariesKnowledge of Microsoft Azure, AWS, or similar cloud computing platformsExperience building Generative AI solutionsStrong service delivery experience including architecture, coding, and building online servicesExperience leading geographically dispersed, diverse, and virtual teamsBusiness level Korean language skills. #ISEngineering#IPSMicrosoft is an equal opportunity employer.
