CategoryTeachingEmployee TypePart-Time, Non-exempt, HourlyOffer Salary$35-$55/hour depending on experienceExperienceMinimum 2 years of music teaching experienceHow to applySummary: The Community School of Music and Arts is seeking a motivated, experienced, fun, and engaging individual to teach in-person private violin & viola lessons to children and adults at CSMA’s primary Finn Center site in Mountain View and in the Corporate Arts Program. This is a part-time, hourly position starting immediately.Skills And QualificationsThorough knowledge of the principles and practical aspects of private music instruction and a solid understanding of violin and viola pedagogy.Minimum Bachelor’s degree in performance and/or music education with an emphasis in violin and/or viola.Proven success in teaching in a private studio setting.Experience and interest in teaching students of all ages, abilities and interest levels with an emphasis on appreciation and enjoyment of music.Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.Ability to teach and converse comfortably with diverse groups of people.The ability to communicate in a positive and consistent way with parents, students, and administration.Performing experience preferred.Experience coaching string quartets and/or other chamber ensembles preferred.EducationBA in Music or Music Education, or equivalent experienceScheduleTeach in-person at CSMA’s main campus in Mountain View.Available to teach in the afternoon (after 3 pm) on weekdays and between (10:00 am – 3:00 pm) on weekends.Available to teach a minimum of 4hours per day.Available at least 2 days a week.Current need – Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays PRIME HOURS.Work EnvironmentRecruiting, scheduling, billing and customer service is handled by full-time staff.Staff takes into account the individual teaching philosophy of each teacher when placing students.Workshop, Recital and Masterclass opportunities for students at no additional cost.Benefits IncludeAll faculty have access to 403(B) retirement plan.Medical, dental, and vision benefits are available for faculty who teach 20 hours or more a week.Professional Development opportunities and grants for facultyCommunity Concert Series performance opportunities for facultyEmployee and Family discount on private lessons and classesRentals off our concert halls at a discounted rate for faculty who teach at least 8 hours in a week.To ApplyPlease email cover letter and resume to jobs@arts4all.org, with Private Lesson Viola & Violin Teacher as the subject line.
