They will be the main contact for technical questions within the department. They ensure their team provides a quality product to the client on time and within budget. This position will require advanced knowledge and expertise in painting techniques area specific equipment to lead projects effectively and efficiently to a successful completion. This individual is a hands-on lead, participating in the day-to-day work of the team. This role does not have supervisory administrative responsibilities. Essential ResponsibilitiesLead a small, diverse group of individuals with varying skills to completion of project goals by supporting team collaboration and cooperation.Organize and manage workflow to ensure team members understand their duties and delegated tasksAnswer technical questions from team members associated with tasks.Share skills and knowledge with others to help with department development. Assist with employee training of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) within the department.Understand quality control processes for assigned product/element to support quality control of elements and/or design flaws by flagging areas not meeting specifications and addressing appropriately through rework or bringing to the attention of others. Make improvement suggestions to Supervisor.Maintain awareness of project schedules and deadlines for team; raise concerns and/or suggest adjustments in an effective and timely manner if deadlines and/or goals are in jeopardy.Interact with other departments and Paint management as necessary to refine understanding of their needs and present suggestions, feedback, and progress reports.Independently complete complex projects with minimal guidance/supervision.Manages materials, prints and supplies and assign the teams for the projects.Ensure product labelling requirements are accurately executed.Conduct equipment checks and perform preventative maintenance on machines.Keep team motivated and informed during all stages of a project.Influence department to produce quality products at an efficient pace.Take initiative to improve methodology and find solutions to boost productivity for department.Communicate with management on projects and team performance.Manage priorities and inform management as they change throughout a shift.Keep a clean, organized, and safe workspace, including tools and equipment.Maintain good space management for finish products in drying area.Accurately capture all labor hours.Ensure TAIT’s 5 standards of care are coordinated into all daily activities: Safety, Quality, Team, Schedule, and Cost.Take ownership for decisions, actions, performance, and behavior.Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.Attend meetings, seminars, and training sessions as required. Engage in training/development programs to enhance skills.Perform assigned duties according to the policies and expectations prescribed by the company.Minimum QualificationsTo perform the essential responsibilities, individuals must have the following level of education and experience, or equivalent combination. Additionally, the following certifications, knowledge, skills, or physical requirements are necessary for the position.High school diploma, GED, or certification program a plus, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum 3 plus years of experience with automotive and/or industrial coatings application.Basic knowledge on paint equipment and paint-booth operation.Familiarity with varieties of different metal abrasive treatments.Ability to work with custom paint applications in a fast-paced, changing environment.Demonstrated ability to use, mix, and spray Automotive and/or Industrial Urethane Coatings, water and Solvent based Coating Systems. (Examples- Acrylic Cross-Linked Polymers, Epoxy and polymer Primers, Urethane base coats, Automotive Urethane Clear Coats, Polyurethane Floor Sealers, etc.).Experience leading a team a plus.Multi-job hands on experience a plus.Knowledge of Epicor, Slack, and/or Box a plus.Strong attention to detail.Working Conditions and Physical EffortRequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is required to frequently walk, bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, stoop, and kneel each day. Specific requirements are:Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.Must be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs.Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs.Must be able to pull or push up to 50 lbs.Must be able to reach overhead.Must be able to work in small, sometimes awkward spaces and positions.Work Conditions Of The Role AreWork conditions may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions.Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work within or visit areas where required.
