With over 100 years of history and trusted customer partnerships, Bakelite is a global leader in engineered materials that make homes stronger, automobiles safer, and products more sustainable.PurposeThe EU Process & Project Engineer will lead process engineering design and capital project implementation across Bakelite’s European sites. You will play a key role in driving sustainable, safe, and cost-efficient solutions while promoting collaboration and technical excellence across borders.ResponsibilitiesLead process engineering design across conceptual, basic, and detailed phases, including calculations, datasheets, P&IDs, and E3D models.Manage internal and external engineering disciplines (civil, mechanical, piping, EC&I) through all project stages to “ready for construction.Conduct feasibility studies, cost estimates, and schedules for new plants or major modifications.Ensure safety in design through Process Hazard Analysis, Management of Change, and compliance with company and national standards.Oversee assigned projects from concept to completion, meeting scope, budget, schedule, and HSE requirements.Obtain project sanction and prepare progress and financial reports for stakeholders.Lead and coordinate capital projects in collaboration with site teams and European engineering resources.Background & RequirementsDegree in Chemical Engineering.Several years of process engineering and project management experience within the chemical or process industry.Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable working in a matrix organization and with remote teams.Fluent in Finnish and proficient in English (spoken and written).Experience with AutoCAD, E3D, Aveva, MS Teams, and MS Project is an advantage.Willingness to travel frequently within Europe (initially 25%, increasing to up to 50% after two years).Why Bakelite?Career Growth: Continuous learning and development opportunities to shape your personal career path.Sustainability Commitment: Contribute to solutions that reduce waste and energy consumption across Europe.Safety First: A company-wide mindset that ensures everyone goes home safely every day.People-Centric Culture: Competitive compensation, robust benefits, and a supportive, caring work environment.
