Company DescriptionThe Junior Procurement and Workshop Assistant will provide operational support to the Procurement Managers from RSS and TAR by assisting with the receival, dispatch, and record-keeping of goods, as well as maintaining procurement documentation on Sage Intacct. The role also ensures that the workshop operates efficiently, tools and equipment are kept in good condition, and safety and quality standards are upheld. This position supports both the administrative and practical aspects of procurement and workshop operations to enable seamless project delivery.Duties & Responsibilities1. Strategy:Contribute to initiatives that enhance workshop efficiency, compliance, and readiness for projects.Support the Procurement Managers in implementing efficient procurement and stock control processes.Help uphold safety and quality standards by ensuring the workshop is properly maintained and all items meet compliance requirements.2. Direct Functions:Conduct basic quality checks on goods received to ensure compliance with specifications and safety requirements.Assist with receival and dispatch of goods.Maintain accurate procurement and stock records, including inventory levels (available stock) and reorder alerts.Support the upkeep of workshop facilities, ensuring tools, equipment, and safety gear are maintained and in good condition.Monitor and report on workshop housekeeping and adherence to safety procedures.Assist with coordination and communication between suppliers, customers, and service providers (including calibration services, repairs, deliveries, and collections).Capturing of purchase requisitions, goods received vouchers, receipts and QC documents on sage intact.3. Staff:Work closely with the Procurement Manager and workshop team to ensure smooth operations.Provide assistance to workshop technicians by ensuring they have the required materials, PPE, and tools.4. Working Conditions:Primarily workshop and office-based, with some travel to suppliers or customers for collections/deliveries.Regular handling of stock, goods, and equipment in a medium- to high-voltage engineering environment (under controlled and safe conditions).Standard working hours, with occasional flexibility to meet urgent procurement or workshop requirements.Exposure to workshop activities where health, safety, and housekeeping are critical.Qualifications:National Diploma or Certificate in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or related field (advantageous).Basic knowledge of health and safety practices in an engineering or workshop environment. Computer literacy (MS Office, procurement systems, stock/inventory software).A valid driver's license and ability to drive independently.Special Requirements:Prior experience in a procurement or workshop support role will be advantageous but not essential.A basic understanding of SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) practices.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced engineering environment.Good communication and teamwork skills.A willingness to learn and grow within procurement and workshop operations.
