Job Description

Massy Wood is currently recruiting for a Procurement Officer with experience in the petrochemical industry.The Procurement Officer is responsible for procurement of inventory, direct purchase items and services for the Client, ensuring cost effectiveness, efficiency and with quality. All purchases shall be in accordance with the Client policies and procedures, local laws, code of conduct and business ethics. This role also promotes and maintains high level of communication with users, planners and vendor companies.To proactively obtain quotations from vendors, evaluate & negotiate bids, liaise with end users and prepare supplier recommendations based on price, quality and delivery time in accordance with the Materials processes. Handling, monitoring and resolving all queries / claims from suppliers for material data, defectives / shortages and missing parts. Communicate any changes in description and part numbers that may emanate from procurement process, so that the inventory database can be updated.Identify shipping requirements / timescales to relevant delivery point personnel.Expediting and following up of all purchase orders to ensure on time delivery and resolution of queries and prepare reports on KPIs to measure performance.Resolve queries emanating from the Procurement to Pay process.Foster an open and respectful high-performance environment for a motivated, united and competent team.Proactively operate to meet set key performance metrics to monitor the effectiveness and efficiency of the procurement function and processes.Establishes and maintains a good professional working relationship with suppliers/vendors to determine item supply capabilities.Identify and recommend potential suppliers for quality, price and service.Actively contribute to the Client’s cost saving initiatives and annual targets (i.e. Identify and implement cost saving initiatives that emanates from Business plan and routine work, challenge vendor costs wherever possible and negotiate the best commercial value for the Company).Utilize technology and new procurement techniques to create value for the Company & Client.Gather and analyse key procurement data using data collection techniques and develop metrics to report results.Create dashboards, charts, and reports using visualization tools (e.g. Power BI, Excel).Support development of procurement strategies aligned with the department’s short and long-term objectives.Analyse and recommend improvements to procurement processes.Understand and comply with all relevant Materials procedures. Ensure there is consistency of procurement practices within the performance of the job.Promote good procurement practice and ensure business practices conform to the corporate expectations in terms of Code of Conduct and business ethics.Assist in the delivery of the Responsible Care agenda for the procurement function.Perform all other job-related duties as required. Undergraduate degree in Supply Chain/Materials Management, Management or Engineering and/or Professional level certification in CIPS, ISM or APICS.Minimum of five (5) years working experience in procurement, preferably in a manufacturing environment.Posses strong analytical skills; experience in an analytical role is an asset.Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System.High level of professional responsibility.Proficiency in procurement software analytical tools like Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Suite.Proficiency with data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Excel).Ability to work effectively and prioritize in a fast-paced, high performance work environment.Ability to work as part of a team.Inspires and motivates others to work well and accepts feedback.Seeks ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.Ability to make decisions in a timely manner and exhibits sound and accurate judgment.Prioritises and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops realistic action plans.Actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures, and uses equipment and materials properly.Maintains the highest level of confidentiality and trustworthiness.Valid Certificate of Good Character (must not be older than 6 months).
