With a history that goes back more than 300 hundred years, Navantia is a world reference in the design, building, integration and life cycle support of state-of-the-art war ships for the Spanish Navy and international customers and has extensive experience in ToT programmes.Job DescriptionJob PurposeTo work as part of the Procurement Team and closely with an integrated supply chain and internal stakeholders to co-ordinate and manage business requests. Key responsibilities will be to manage contracts and suppliers to maximise customer service and operating performance.The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing the procurement of materials, equipment, and services essential for shipbuilding projects, ensuring timely delivery, cost efficiency, and adherence to quality.Key DutiesProcure goods, materials, components, and services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targetsResearch and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possibleIdentify, manage and mitigate any supply chain risksDeliver procurement briefs, updates, and reports as and when requiredAssist in cost analysis and contribute to the development of efficient and innovative procurement processesAdd value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of best procurement practiceNegotiate contracts, improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savingsEnsure compliance to all internal procedures and external regulationsCollaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and production teams to forecast material needsPrepare and process purchase orders/contracts, track shipments, and manage inventory levels to ensure timely availability of critical materialsConduct market research to stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and alternative materials in shipbuildingAssess and evaluate suppliers and undertake performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activitiesWhere applicable, manage and mentor Buyers in the delivery of key duties which assist the Procurement functionEssential CriteriaPrevious experience of working in a senior Procurement positionProficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and WordContract Tendering, Awarding and ManagementStrong Negotiation SkillsPrevious experience of using an ERP system e.g. SAPSupplier sourcing competency and knowledge of local and national supply chainsExcellent organisational, analytical, and communication skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentDesirable CriteriaStrong knowledge of marine equipment, steel fabrication, coatings, propulsion systems, outfitting, and other shipbuilding materials and systemsExperience of Project Procurement and Capital Investment ContractsQualificationsMCIPS Qualified or working towards qualificationDegree in a relative Business, Engineering or Manufacturing disciplineAdditional InformationIf you experience difficulties or are unable to apply for a role on-line please contact us at people.skills@harland-wolff.com and one of the team will be in contact to help you.
