Job Description
Job Summary: The Procurement Officer is responsible for the timely and cost-effective sourcing and purchasing of raw materials, ingredients, packaging, and supplies required for feed production. This role ensures continuous supply, quality compliance, and cost efficiency of materials while maintaining strong relationships with local and international suppliers.Key Responsibilities:Source and procure raw materials such ex corn, soybean meal, rice bran, copra meal, molasses, wheat, fishmeal, premixes, vitamins, and minerals.Canvass and evaluate supplier quotations to ensure best price, quality, and delivery terms.Negotiate purchase contracts and payment terms with both local and international suppliers.Coordinate closely with production planning to ensure material availability aligns with manufacturing schedules.Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with raw material suppliers, traders, and logistics providers.Monitor and evaluate supplier performance in terms of price stability, delivery reliability, and quality consistency.Conduct supplier accreditation and audits in coordination with the Quality Assurance and Technical teams.Track and monitor inventory levels to avoid production downtime or overstocking.Analyze commodity price trends and market movements to anticipate risks and recommend buying strategies.Implement cost-saving initiatives and alternative sourcing options for key raw materials.Coordinate with logistics providers for inbound shipments and deliveries, ensuring compliance with transport and storage requirements.Prepare and monitor purchase orders, contracts, and shipping documents for both local and imported materials.Liaise with customs brokers and regulatory agencies for import permits and clearances (if applicable).Ensure all procurement transactions comply with company policies, legal standards, and documentation requirements.Maintain accurate and updated records of purchases, supplier databases, and pricing history.Prepare regular procurement reports on purchase performance, material costs, and supplier efficiency.Recommend and implement process improvements for procurement efficiency and transparency.Stay updated on feed industry trends, new raw materials, and market developments that affect cost and supply stability.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Animal Science, Agriculture, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.At least 2–5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in feed manufacturing or agri-based industries.Strong knowledge of feed raw materials, supplier markets, and logistics processes.Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems; familiarity with importation processes is an advantage.
