Procurement Specialist

Job Purpose:To manage and execute the end-to-end procurement process for materials, equipment, and services related to waste collection, recycling, and environmental operations. The Procurement Specialist ensures cost-effective purchasing while maintaining compliance with company policies, sustainability standards, and local regulatory requirements.Key Responsibilities:Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers for waste management–related materials, spare parts, heavy equipment, and maintenance services (e.g., compactors, sweepers, containers, fleet consumables).Manage procurement requests (PR to PO) in alignment with budget, technical specifications, and operational timelines.Develop and maintain approved vendor lists for categories such as fleet maintenance, PPE, waste containers, lubricants, and environmental consumables.Collaborate with Operations, Workshop, and Finance teams to ensure timely supply chain support to ongoing waste collection and recycling projects.Prepare RFQs, analyze quotations, and recommend vendor selection based on price, quality, delivery, and sustainability criteria.Monitor supplier performance and coordinate corrective actions in case of delays, quality issues, or non-compliance.Ensure procurement activities comply with internal SOPs, ISO standards, and federal / municipal regulations.Key Competencies:Strong analytical and cost-control mindset.Excellent communication and stakeholder management.Integrity and adherence to compliance standards.Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple RFQs simultaneously.Team player with the ability to coordinate across departments.Preferred Industry Background:Waste management, recycling, environmental services, facilities management (environmental division), or municipal contracting.
