Lead Product DesignerAbout the CompanyCapi helps businesses in Africa pay their international suppliers. We’ve raised over $18m from Creandum, Y Combinator, General Catalyst, Firstminute, Janngo, Kima Ventures, and some great angels from Revolut, Checkout, Stripe, Onfido, and Remitly.Capi was founded by Mitch Riley, Scott Liddle, and Tom Watson. Mitch and Scott were COO/CFO/GC and CRO/CMO at Taptap Send, a remittance unicorn, and have spent two decades between them working in emerging markets.Working with in emerging markets is opening the door for us to have an economical impact on African markets by allowing businesses to pay suppliers and partners through our platform - we are currently live across Senegal, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Kenya, and Mali, with many more coming soon.Our team is made up of approx 60 people across 12 countries; we are a group of a highly-ambitious, get-it-done people, who like to work hard on something that has a tangible impact in the world. And we’re looking for more people to join our team!Role OverviewAs our first in-house Product Designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience of our current and new products as we transform how businesses in Africa make international payments. Working at the intersection of fintech and emerging markets, you'll be responsible for both hands-on design work and strategic initiatives that define our design direction.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the end-to-end design process for our product, from research and ideation to implementationDevelop and maintain our design system and component library to ensure consistency across our platformWork closely with product, engineering, and user researcher to understand user needs and translate them into intuitive solutionsActively validate and iterate to ensure our product concepts are aligned with the customer needs and wider business expectationsCreate user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity designs that balance user needs with business requirementsConduct research alongside our user research team to validate design decisionsRequirementsExtensive product design experience in a high-performing environment and early-stage start-upsDeep expertise in modern design tools and software, such as Figma or similarStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailExperience in understanding and designing complex B2B productsTrack record of building products from first principles; you’ll have worked somewhere that was building something new, based on new user researchExcellent communication and collaboration skills; strong ability to articulate design decisionsWillingness to travel occasionally to meet with customers in our African marketsYour portfolio is beautiful.
