Job Description

At Vanvino®, we design and manufacture textiles for hospitality, contract and home fashion with an atelier approach. We’re looking for a Freelance Product Designer with strong aesthetic judgement and solid technical command of industrial processes, able to take a development from brief to sealed sample.Your missionTurn business ideas into ready-to-manufacture bed, bath and table products (sheets, pillowcases, pillows, duvets, blankets, towels, bathrobes, table linen, kitchen cloths, etc.), balancing design, performance and cost.What you’ll do (technical detail)Design & creative directionBuild moodboards, colour palettes (Pantone FHI/TCX), storytelling and collection proposals.Prepare visual specifications (renders, mock-ups, client presentation layouts).Fibre selection & constructionsDefine fibres: cotton (carded/combed, ring-spun/open-end), linen, TENCEL™/Lyocell, blends (e.g., 50/50), hemp, microfibres and technical blends.Choose weaves/knits and constructions by category:Bed: percale, sateen, twill, jacquard/dobby, yarn-dyed vs piece-dyed.Bath: terry (GSM, pile height, low-twist/zero-twist, dobby borders), honeycomb/waffle.Table: panama, satin/sateen, poly/cotton blends, linen/linen-mix.Define densities/TC, neps/yarn count (e.g., 40s, 60s), GSM, picks per inch and dimensional stability.Finishes & colourSelect and justify finishes by use: mercerised, sanforised, calendered, enzyme/stone wash, anti-pilling, easy-care/anti-crease, anti-shrink, bio-polish, silicone softeners, stain release for table linen.Plan dyeing/printing: reactive, vat/indanthrene (high fastness), piece/yarn/garment dye, rotary/flat printing.Manage lab dips and strike-offs through to sealed sample (ΔE tolerances).Make-up & detailingSpecify patterns and measurements by market (EU/US/UK), with allowances and expected shrinkages.Define hems, stitches and reinforcements: double stitching, bias binding, bartacks, piping, plackets, double needle for towels, mitred hems for table linen.Set labelling (composition, care, country of origin) and packaging (FSC® where applicable).Full technical packPrepare the tech pack: BOM, construction sheet, quality points, tolerances, stitches per cm, AQL and inspection method.Performance & standardsDesign for industrial laundry (60–95 °C, tumble drying, chlorine on whites) in hospitality.Request and review tests: colour fastness to washing/rubbing/perspiration/light (ISO 105), shrinkage/spirality (ISO 6330), pilling (ICI/Martindale), strength (ISO 13934/13937), towel absorbency, dye migration, etc.Industrialisation & sourcingCollaborate with mills and cut-and-sew workshops (PT/ES/EU) on feasibility, MOQ, lead times and cost optimisation.Track sample and pre-series status through to approval.RequirementsProven experience in home-textile product design (portfolio covering bed/bath/table).Strong knowledge of fabrics, GSM/weights, weaves, finishes and make-up processes.Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop (Figma/Keynote a plus) and Pantone TCX.Ability to produce complete tech packs and communicate with mills/workshops.Professional English (written and spoken).Detail-oriented, quality-driven, with a cost–performance mindset.Nice to haveUnderstanding of material certifications (OEKO-TEX®, GOTS, GRS, BCI; ISO with partners).Contemporary aesthetic sensitivity and international outlook.Self-management by milestones and reliable on-time delivery.We offerOngoing freelance, project-based collaboration.Clear briefs, fast feedback, and work with fabric partners in PT/ES.Competitive project fees according to scope and seniority.How to applySend your portfolio (PDF or link) and CV to hello@vanvino.storeSubject: Freelance Home Product DesignPlease include 2–3 case studies showing: brief → fabric/weight/weave choice → finish → tech pack (and image of sealed sample if available).
